Head Start educators work with families and children to implement developmental and socialization strategies that work best for you and your child. Our classrooms are bright and inviting and are designed to maximize creativity and learning. Healthy lunches and snacks are provided to children daily. In addition to providing educational and nutritional resources, children will have access to health and dental screenings at no cost, and families will be provided with health referrals and referrals for emergency services whenever needed. We recruit families 12 months per year.

The Rhode Island Pharmaceutical Assistance to Elders (RIPAE) Program pays a portion of the cost of RIPAE-approved medications purchased during the Deductible stage of a Part D plan. There are four levels to this program; levels 1-3 are for older adults 65+ and older, and level 4 is for adults 55-64 who are disabled. Annual income(s) determine into which level of the program individuals are enrolled.

Influenza-like-illness (ILI) is defined as patients with a fever over 100°F with cough and/or sore throat (unless there is a known cause other than the flu). Collection Period: Data is collected and analyzed weekly throughout the flu season from October to May. How data are collected The Department of Health has a number of methods for gathering data. This includes gathering reports on the number of patients with influenza-like illness (ILI) from a sample of sentinel physicians and collecting data from hospitals throughout the state. The services of the State Health Laboratory are used to determine the circulating strains of influenza. Additionally, a staff of epidemiologists work with CDC guidance to determine flu activity levels.

THE SCITUATE ANIMAL SHELTER is a municipal facility under the supervision of Scituate Animal Control, a division of the Scituate, Rhode Island Police Department. They take in animals from Scituate and Foster and provide care until we can find good homes for them. They also socialize all cats and dogs who need such work in order to be ready for life in a home and with a family. The shelter staff and the volunteers will go to great lengths to find homes for all animals that we have at the shelter.
