The National Organization for Rare Disorders is a patient advocacy organization dedicated to individuals with rare diseases and the organizations that serve them. NORD, along with its more than 280 patient organization members, is committed to the identification, treatment, and cure of rare disorders through programs of education, advocacy, research, and patient services.

PawsWatch is a 100% volunteer organization with no paid staff or employees that provides veterinary care and shelter to improve the lives of feral and unowned cats. PawsWatch advocates and practices the internationally recognized Trap-Neuter-Release-Monitor protocol as the only humane solution to the state's feral cat challenge. PawsWatch does not operate a physical shelter, but instead has different chapters operating throughout Rhode Island.

Our Adult Basic Education program prepare students to pass the GED (and other high school equivalency programs) and proceed to college-level work and persist in their post-secondary education goals. Students receive developmental education courses in reading and math, as well as courses in writing and computer literacy, in order to first earn a high school equivalency diploma and then be prepared to enter college, a trade school, or a certificate program. The program also includes extensive academic and support services for students to help them reach their educational goals.

Saint Elizabeth Place is a section eight residence with 149 apartments, subsidized under the Department of Housing and Urban Development for seniors and adults with impaired mobility.

The UCP Rhode Island Children & Family Services program provides services to children with disabilities and their families under Rhode Island�s Home Based Therapeutic Services Program (HBTS). Medicaid eligible children (up to age 21) are provided comprehensive periodic evaluations to supplement the treatment of various medical conditions. Works with families to develop service plans for their children and assists the families to secure HBTS funding. Once a plan is approved, UCPRI provides case management and services, therapies, and training for the child and family. The object is to apply individualized services that permit the child to live at home and take an active part in school and community. UCPRI�s services may help relieve some of the financial strains that make raising a child with disabilities so stressful to both the family and child. Other Children & Family Services:

• CAP (Community Activities Project) provides financial support enabling children with disabilities to participate in community and recreational activities.

Provides information, referral and advocacy to families with children who have special needs. UCPRI will assist families in identifying their needs (home health care, learning, recreation) and work with them to secure funding. Adult Education: UCP Rhode Island�s Adult Education Community Classrooms meet throughout RI. Instruction is individualized, based on the personal learning goals of each student. Most classes meet for 3 hours a week for 12 weeks. Neighbors Helping Neighbors Rhode Island is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families stay in their homes through a variety of ways, primarily by providing necessary home repairs and modifications. NHN RI offers services including building wheelchair ramps, painting houses indoor or out, repairing porches or steps, patching roofs, and fixing windows. All of these can make real differences to neighbors in need. Necessary home repairs are often left undone when people are faced with the need to stretch their paycheck, disability check, or Social Security income. In some cases, completing this work is the only way people are able to stay in their homes and remain independent.

Consumer-based, community-controlled, nonprofit outpatient facilities that provide basic health care including physical examinations, immunizations, family planning, nutrition assistance and diagnosis and treatment of common ailments for low income people, people who are homeless or uninsured/underinsured or other medically underserved populations that are geographically, economically and culturally challenged. Services are generally provided on an ability-to-pay basis. In the U.S., most community clinics are part of the network of Federally Qualified Health Centers, and many are known as "free clinics".

A transitional housing program for male veterans. Vets may stay for up to 24 months and receive food and clothing, case management, education, and counseling services. Counseling services include mental health including PTSD and substance abuse/ gambling counseling/intervention, legal services, resume building and budget counseling and more. The goal of the program is to help homeless Veterans achieve residential stability, increase their skill levels or income, and obtain greater self-determination.

Services: A temporary transitional and emergency shelter for homeless women and their children; provides advocacy/referral resources to residents, budget/money management, GED classes, parenting classes, counseling, life skills training and a summer program for children. Lucy's Hearth is an affiliate of Family Service of Rhode Island. Income Source: State; local; private; fund raisers.

Technology Demonstrations- TechACCESS provides in-person or virtual demonstrations (up to 1 hour) of assistive technology to the public. Appointments are required. Demonstrations are provided based on tools identified by the individual.

The American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc. to ease the burden and find the cure for Parkinson's disease. The organization focuses its energies on research, patient services, education and raising public awareness about the disease. APDA has contributed more than $28 million to patient and caregiver support through its networks of 62 Information & Referral Centers and 800 support groups across the country. ADPA sponsors community activities, and support groups, and exercise groups for people suffering from Parkinson's and their friends and families throughout the state. Park View Apartments is a subsidized, low income housing community run by the Westerly Housing authority for 62+, disabled or handicapped with preference given to Westerly residents.
