The Cranston Animal Shelter, which houses stray dogs, stray cats and homeless pets, is located at 920 Phenix Avenue. Currently, it consists of a kennel area with 40 dog runs and a puppy/cat room with 36 various size cages that can accommodate up to 75 puppies, kittens, and cats.

The Visitation Center serves families whose children are in the care of DCYF due to substance use or mental health concerns. Families are able to have supervised visits in a home-like setting while receiving support in their recovery. The program provides for: Supervised Visits - Visits in a home environment with a focus on everyday family activities. Clinical Oversight - consultation and assessment, observation and clinical work around visits, assistance with coordination of supports and help with parenting skill building. Family Recovery Coaching - support with the recovery process, information and resource connections and help navigating the child welfare system. St. Joseph Health Center provides comprehensive care to children, adults and families through a network of primary care and specialty clinics. With nearly 100,000 visits each year, the Health Center’s central location is at 21 Peace Street in Providence and at satellite locations in Pawtucket and Johnston, Rhode Island. The Center has convenient hours of operation, accepts all forms of insurance, and offers a sliding fee based on income to individuals who qualify. Our multicultural staff speaks a variety of languages including, but not limited to, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Interpreter services are available for patients who speak other languages.
