Hospital charity care requirements cover those essential services necessary to diagnose, correct, or cure a medical condition that endangers life, causes pain and suffering, results in illness or infirmity, or causes a physical deformity or malfunction. Both inpatient and outpatient services are included. To receive full charity care, patients annual family income must be up to and including 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. For partial charity care, patients annual family income must be between 200% and 300% of the Federal Poverty Level may receive assistance based on a sliding scale. In addition to income, hospitals have the option to consider other assets. Also must be denied from Medicaid first depending on income. The duty of the West Warwick EMA is to coordinate and direct the planning, organization, control, and implementation of local emergency management activities. Additional duties and activities include the following: Coordinate with community officials and with the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) as necessary to ensure the effective administration of the emergency management program; Manage, operate, and maintain the Emergency Operations Center (EOC); Establish and maintain agency emergency policies and communication procedures for all West Warwick employees and volunteers; Coordinate, develop, and implement the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for the Town of West Warwick; Prepare and distribute disaster preparedness material to the citizens of West Warwick; Coordinate the actions and uses of West Warwick assets during emergency exercises and actual occurrences of natural disasters.

The Bristol Division of Emergency Management Services implements policies related to hazard mitigation and emergency management programs and activities. The EMA also has general supervision of all civil preparedness duties. Shelter Locations Bristol Emergency Shelters are located at the Quinta-Gamelin Community Center on Asylum Rd. and Mt. Located on the South side of Providence, Rhode Island, HGI's vibrant and welcoming RUKIYA CENTER provides members of the West African Immigrants and Refugees community with elder services (Sweetie Care, African Elders Enrichment Program), Soft skills pre-employment and workforce development, literacy classes for women, basic computer and design classes, therapeutic arts, cultural enrichment, advocacy, case management, immigration & citizenship classesand other wraparound services for youth and families. HGI’s for-profit arm, Broken Pieces International, engages adults, at-risk youth and other under-served populations in the design and manufacture of clothing and accessories that reflect the character and community of both HGI and the West African diaspora. This provides them with vital job training and economic opportunities, and the revenue generated supports HGI’s work in Liberia. This innovative model fosters important connections to the culture and history of the mother country for Liberians living abroad, and reinforces HGI’s mission to uplift communities through empowerment and self-sustainability. Sweetie Care African Elders Enrichment Program, Social Services, Cultural Services-Food is distributed on the THIRD (3rd) Thursdays of each month, except for December where the focus is fully on our elders for the holidays. The month of November is dedicated to HGI's annual Traditional & Ethnic Thanksgiving Food Distribution which is extended to 500 people/families. Participants MUST preregister to be included in the food distribution list that consists of 300 families per month. Participants must visit Higher Ground International Rukiya Center to inquire about signing up. There are no food distributions for the month of December. Transformational Services HGI offers a variety of cultural services, including culturally- centered community events, music, dance, stories. Culturally Appropriate non-perishable and staple food items, in partnership with Meals on Wheels Rhode Island, a weekly cultural food cafe.
