Winslow Gardens is a place that truly feels like home. Nestled in a residential area of East Providence, Winslow Gardens is a 10-story apartment community that provides housing and services for older adults of modest means. They are a local nonprofit organization whose operations are guided by a value-driven and compassionate philosophy of treating each resident as a family member. They provide high-quality, personalized care while respecting individual needs and wants, and have been serving Greater East Providence since 1971. Their goal is to provide residents with the opportunity to live comfortably and safely with dignity and respect in a caring community. Each resident has a private apartment varying in size that can accommodate one or two people. Apartments include a kitchenette with stove and refrigerator, individual climate controls, security cameras, cable and phone connections, private bathrooms and amenities such as laundry services, onsite beauty salon, weekly ecumenical religious services, outdoor courtyard garden, fish pond, patio and more.

More than 1.2 million unique users visit the website annually, and WomensLaw.org provides referrals and information to more than 3,000 individuals through the Email Hotline. The WomensLaw Email Hotline will provide legal information to anyone who reaches out with legal questions or concerns regarding domestic violence, sexual violence, or any other topic covered on WomensLaw.org. Despite its name, WomensLaw.org provides information that is relevant to people of all genders, not just women.

The Rose Island Foundation is a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization whose mission is to preserve the historic and environmental integrity of Rose Island, to maintain and operate its lighthouse and to provide education and public access for all people. Rose Island is about 18 acres in size. It consists of a wildlife refuge, the lighthouse, and the Fort Hamilton Barracks. Between March 1 and August 15 public access around the perimeter of Rose Island is restricted for nesting birds. In the winter, from late October to early April, you can often see harbor seals resting on Citing Rock on the east side of Rose Island, which is surrounded by extensive underwater eel grass beds. A mile offshore, beyond the reach of Newport’s utility lines and services, the Rose Island Lighthouse stands as an independent, energy-efficient building that was home to keepers and their families for over a hundred years. After the Newport Bridge was built the Light Station was abandoned as an aid to navigation. For the next 14 years it fell victim to scavengers, vandals and the weather. In 1984, volunteers of the Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation restored it to its 1912 appearance, installing environmentally sensitive utilities for electricity, water, sewer, and heat. On August 7, 1993, after the funds had been raised to pay all the restoration bills, the beacon was joyously relit. Rose Island Light is once again listed on today's charts as a private aid to navigation. The Lighthouse is also listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors of all ages can learn about the Lighthouse’s history and can experience, first-hand, the keeper’s self-sufficient, resourceful way of life...learning that lasts a lifetime.

Tutors for Refugee Students The Immigration and Refugee Services assist many refugee clients who have children. Their children are enrolled in school but need extra help reading, writing and speaking English in order to keep up with their school work. Refugee student tutors set up a schedule with the parents of the student to tutor the child or children twice a week after school for an hour or two each session at the student’s home.

The Adjutant General of the state of Rhode Island is appointed by the Governor and serves at the will of the Governor. The Adjutant General is a member of the State Cabinet who is responsible for providing the overall leadership and tactical coordination for security preparedness and emergency response systems in the state. He is the strategic leader and Chief Executive Officer to the Governor for the agencies assigned and as the representative for the State to the lead Federal coordinating agencies, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, the National Guard Bureau, the Department of the Army, the Department of the Air Force, and the United States Coast Guard. Additionally, he is responsible as the lead coordinating agency within the scope of emergency preparedness for collaboration with the first response agencies and municipalities within the state, including law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical services and the military. He is responsible to support those agencies to ensure they are well equipped, trained, and prepared.

The mission of the Coventry Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) is to protect life and property in the event of a disaster or crisis situation through a program of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.

Programs that provide a graded system of learning in a formal school setting from grades nine or 10 through 12 for adolescents who usually range in age from 13 or 14 to 18. High schools provide formal instruction for students who want to prepare themselves for further education at the college/university level as well as those who prefer to seek employment immediately after high school graduation. The curriculum for students who are planning to terminate their formal education focuses on vocational preparation whereas that for college/university-bound students focuses on providing the required number of hours of instruction in targeted subjects to enable them to meet college/university entrance requirements.
