Support and advocacy for the blind. Monthly meetings focus mainly on advocacy activities such as legislative and public policy development and public education. However, peer support for individuals is available and provided as needed. Purpose of the group is to foster positive attitudes towards blindness for both the blind and sighted communities.
Chapters
The Greater Providence Chapter of the NFB of RI meets on the second Saturday of each month, except for the months of July and October from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and they are preceded by a social half hour at 10 Office Parkway, in East Providence. For more information, please contact the Greater Providence Chapter.
The Mount Hope Chapter of the NFB of RI meets on the third Thursday of each month, except for October and December from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, preceded by a social half hour. Meetings are held at the Rogers Free Library, located at 525 Hope Street, in Bristol. Those using the Ride program should ask to be dropped off and picked up at the Thames Street entrance, located in the back of the building. WIC: The Tri-County Community Action Agency Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides supplemental foods, healthcare referrals and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk. Upon enrollment into the WIC program, a nutritional assessment will be completed for you and your eligible family members. They will then offer education on healthy eating, monthly vouchers for nutritious foods including eggs, milk, cheese, peanut butter, beans, tuna, fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads, rice, iron fortified cereals, and juice as well as many other valuable resources. Breastfeeding and lactation support and education are also available through the WIC program.

Cleanings include blood pressure monitoring, oral cancer screening, periodontal examination, polishing, fluoride treatment and information on dental health. The appointment length is two hours.
All persons given appointments will be screened for potential physician consultation and made aware of the approximate time required to complete treatments, as well as the fee for the treatments provided.
Children are to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and are not to be left unattended in the reception area. Parent/guardian must remain in the reception area throughout treatment. Infants are not allowed into the clinic.
