Burrillville Animal Control Shelter returns stray animals to their owners, places unclaimed animals in homes, enforces local animal control ordinances and state animal care regulations, educates and provides referrals to the public, and assists residents in advertising pets needing new homes via the internet.

The Tri-County Community Action Agency Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides supplemental foods, healthcare referrals and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk. Upon enrollment into the WIC program, we will complete a nutritional assessment for you and your eligible family members. We will then offer education on healthy eating, monthly vouchers for nutritious foods including eggs, milk, cheese, peanut butter, beans, tuna, fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads, rice, iron fortified cereals, and juice as well as many other valuable resources. Services: Free Family Support Groups led by trained facilitators on an as needed basis for patients, caregivers and loved ones. Guest speakers on special topics relating to cancer and wellness. Patient Aid: Provides financial assistance for medication relating to cancer treatment and transportation costs to and from treatment. First Connection: Matches recently diagnosed patients with trained volunteers who have experienced a similar situation. Volunteer survivors, or their family members, offer support and information to individuals learning to cope with any blood related cancers. The Center also operates a meal site for senior citizens, and provides meals on wheels to a large number of individuals within the community.

Services: Houses 29 families and 8 women daily. Shelter stays are limited to 90 days but can be renewed based on progress demonstrated by participants or impending permanent housing. Case managers assist participants with healthcare, employment and establishing permanent housing. Help also available for: mental health issues, addiction, developmental delays in children, parenting and domestic violence. Case managers access services directly through Family Resources Community Action Program or collaborative agreements with other local non profit organizations.

Short-term psychiatric and substance abuse hospital that treats children, 4 years and over; adolescents and adults in acute crisis situations through its 24-hour inpatient hospital, outpatient specialty programs, day hospital and alcohol and drug treatment services. Specialty services available: geriatric, child and adolescent, affective disorders, family therapy, neuropsychiatry, substance abuse, anxiety disorders, social skills, obsessive/compulsive disorders, women's program, sexual and physical abuse, eating disorders and developmental disabilities. Day Program: Income Source: Endowments; patient fees, health insurance.

Main Street House is run through East Bay Center; all referrals go through East Bay. This program is specifically for schizophrenic children - please do not refer clients to this program directly.

It can also help identify children who may need further assessment, intervention and/ or services at an early age to promote positive outcomes in kindergarten and beyond.
