Senior Medicare Patrol staff and volunteers work with beneficiaries to:
-Review their Medicare Summary Notices for accuracy
-Protect their identity
-Identify and report errors on their health care bills
-Identify deceptive health care practices, such as illegal marketing, providing unnecessary or inappropriate services, and charging for services that were not provided
-SMP also conducts informational sessions for seniors about avoiding Medicare and Medicaid scams.

Medicare is a health insurance program for people 65 and older, people under age 65 with certain disabilities, and people of all ages with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant).
