The Pawtucket police department is a full service, full time police department operating 24/7, 365 days/year. The department has a compliment of over 150 sworn police officers and approximately 50 civilian support personnel.

Many officers are graduates of the University of Rhode Island Criminalist School, with training in scientific investigation, photography and fingerprinting.
