Unlike traditional programs, sobriety or participation in treatment is not a condition of receiving housing. Residents must only comply with the tenets of a standard lease. Once housed, the housing itself becomes an ongoing incentive to change.

Since 1989, East Bay Coalition for the Homeless (EBCH) has been helping Rhode Island families get back on their feet by providing access to safe, affordable housing combined with case management, financial counseling and connection to mainstream resources. A seamless array of services may be accessed through our in-house or referral network. Services are individualized and designed to help families achieve and maintain financial stability. Families go to them during times of crisis and debt. Whether they need safe, affordable housing or assistance addressing the hazards of lead poisoning, our staff is here to help. EBCH serves households that meet the federal definition of homelessness. Lead education and services are also available to renters and property owners.

Our services include counseling for needs such as depression, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and the psychological effects of military sexual trauma (MST). We offer a range of services, from talk therapy to recreational activities. Our team will work with you to identify your goals and make a plan to meet them. We'll help you and your family build meaningful connections to improve your quality of life. Our counseling is confidential. We won't share any information about you or the services you receive without your permission- except in a life-threatening situation. Counseling services- Couples and family counseling- We offer couples and family counseling to support you as you work toward meeting your goals. The Providence Vet Center has a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) onsite to offer family and couples counseling. Grief and bereavement counseling- If someone close to you has died or you're adjusting to a difficult life change, we're here to support you. The Providence Vet Center offers bereavement counseling in an individual or group setting by a trained bereavement counselor. Mental Health Care- If you're struggling with issues like PTSD, depression, grief, anger, or trauma, we offer counseling and other support. The Providence Vet Center offers individual and group counseling using evidence based therapies such as: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Recovery and Empowerment, Sobriety Support, Solution Focused Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Psychoeducation, Psychosocial Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Moral Therapy, Seeking Safety Therapy. Military sexual trauma care- If you experienced sexual assault or harassment during military service, we can help you get the counseling you need. Any Veteran or service member, including members of the National Guard and Reserve forces, who experienced military sexual trauma is eligible to receive counseling. This applies to people of all genders from any service era. The Providence Vet Center offers individual and group counseling by counselors, both male and female, with specific Military Sexual Trauma (MST) training., Minority Veteran Care-If you're a Veteran from a minority community, we can help you find counseling, support, and referral services to meet your specific needs. PTSD Care- If you have symptoms of PTSD after a traumatic event, we can help. We offer assessment and support through private counseling and group therapy. We can also refer you to VA or community counseling for treatment and therapy resources. At the Providence Vet Center we offer individual and group counseling for our Veterans and service members. Our groups run several times a week and at different times of the day. Many of our counselors are even Veterans themselves. Returning Service member care- If you're returning from military service, we'll help you transition to civilian life. We can connect you with educational and career counseling, mental health services, and other programs and benefits that will support your transition. Whole health- Whole health puts you- instead of your illnesses or conditions- at the center of care. We'll work with you to develop a personalized health plan based on your values, needs and goals. The Providence Vet Center offers therapeutic activities such as Yoga, Mindfulness, Fishing Charters, Surfing, Art Expression. Women Veteran Care- If you're a woman Veteran transitioning to civilian life, we can help you find counseling, support, and referral services to meet your specific needs. The Providence Vet Center offers individual and group counseling. Referral Services- Addiction and subtance use care- We can help you overcome substance use problems, from unhealthy alcohol use to life-threatening addiction. We'll connect you to services for your specific needs. The Providence Vet Center has specially trained counselors on staff to support your needs and can facilitate inpatient treatment if necessary. We also provide referral to VA and local community counseling resources. Suicide prevention-Call our Veterans Crisis Line at 988 and press 1 to get support anytime day or night. This service is private, free, and available 24/7. Our Vet Center can also connect you with ongoing counseling and services. Veteran Connections-We can help connect you to VA and community resources that will support you in achieving your goals. The Providence Vet Center may help you know where to go and how to register for VA medical benefits and register for care, filing a military-related disability claim and other forms, understanding your VA education benefits, Housing and home loans, education and referral for VA burial benefits. Community Engagement- We provide private organizations and community agencies education on our Veteran Community and military culture. Together, we build referral networks to expand support for Veterans, service members, and their families. Spaying: We sponsor several low-cost spaying/neutering clinics annually; Pet Adoption: Our program is an alternative to local dog pounds and shelters. Defenders works with pet owners that need to find homes for their companion animals. Legal Assistance: Defenders of Animals has assisted individuals with legal research and assistance in obtaining an attorney. Rewards: Defenders offers rewards up to $2000 for information leading to the apprehension, conviction and sentencing of the person(s) guilty of crimes of cruelty. Advocacy: Defenders of Animals will advocate on behalf of stray, abandoned animals and wildlife and pet owners when it is appropriate.

Fifty nine units of permanent and transitional housing located on five campuses throughout the state. A coalition of concerned citizens, dedicated to all veterans who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. Housing (emergency and permanent). Permanent housing in Johnston and West Warwick. OSDRI follows the “housing first model” providing permanent and transitional housing combined with a full range of supportive services designed to address the individual veteran’s needs which led to his or her state of homelessness. Supportive services include but are not limited to: intensive case management; coordination of mental health and substance abuse treatment; assistance with VA benefits and employment, training and job placement services. Our focus is to give veterans a “hand up…not a hand out.” Vocational/educational training program at 790 Providence Street, West Warwick. Annual three day program in September for veterans desiring assistance with legal, housing or counseling needs. Service for housing- Help facilitate a combination of permanent supportive, transitional, and recovery housing to low income and disabled veterans to meet their needs. They own and operates permanent and transitional housing facilities. Each housing program offers various levels of supportive services. Housing is available for females, males, and their families. Housing assistance- eligible veterans who are literally homeless receive assistance with security deposits, rent, moving expenses and emergency shelter. Those at risk of homelessness, may receive help with rent in arears and utilities.

OSDRI’s Real Pathways Employment and Training Program is focused on providing veterans the employment and training services they need in order to re-enter the labor force. Job placement, training, job development, career counseling, resume preparation, are among the services that are provided. Supportive services such as clothing, temporary financial assistance with housing, referral to medical and substance abuse treatment, childcare, legal assistance and transportation coordination are also provided to meet the needs of this target group. Employment and Training is focused on eliminating barriers by providing veterans and their families the employment and training services they need in order to re-enter the workforce. They work with Active Duty Military Personnel, National Guard, Reservists, Veterans and Military Families on a one-on-one basis to assist with Job placement, training, job development, career counseling, resume preparation, education. OSDRI works with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and their Disabled Veteran Outreach Program (DVOP) within the American Job Center (AJC) to provide crossover services and additional coverage for eligible clients in need of HVRP assistance. Real Pathways Rhode Island- OSDRI's Real Pathways Program funded the Governor's Workforce Board Real Pathways RI program" Real Pathways RI invests in workforce partnerships that include education and training entities that specialize in advancing career pathways. Partnerships are demand-driven and linked to the larger workforce development network and is designed to help veterans and their families obtain employment, increase education and obtain appropriate credentials.
