Dementia and Alzheimer's Services provides compassionate support for those who are caring for a loved one with dementia. They provide information, education and support for individuals with these diseases, along with the families and professionals who care for them.

Steere House is an independent non-profit organization, serving adults who require skilled, restorative and long-term care services within a secure and caring environment. The Rhode Island Veterans Home is a 110-acre complex on Mount Hope Bay in Bristol. The home provides quality nursing and residential care to Rhode Island war veterans. Some of the services provided include social, medical, nursing and rehabilitative services. Services Approximately 208 beds. Assisted living and nursing care, including secure units (Alzheimer's care) and palliative care. X-ray, dental, and pharmacy services, physical therapy and occupational therapy, psych services, transportation to PVAMC. Rehabilitation Services includes physical and occupational therapy. Social Services includes individual and group therapy and specialized support groups. Transitional Services include short-term stays in dorms or a more intensive Transitional Supportive Program for homeless veterans. Activities and Services for Residents include movies, crafts, card games, bingo, birthday parties, cookouts and day trips. Religious Services are also available. In addition to the Veterans Home buildings, the facilities include a library, gift shop, cafe, bank, barbershop, and beautician. The Veterans Home has an active Family Council that is open to family members. They meet monthly to discuss common issues and concerns affecting the residents of the home.

Cedar Crest Subacute and Rehabilitation programs, a 156 bed medical center, were designed for patients with physical, medical and cognitive impairments who would benefit from patient-centered care and an interdisciplinary team approach. Our goal is to work with patients to achieve their optimum level of functioning. When those treatment goals are met, the patient is ready to move on. Treatment plans can include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language therapy, along with nursing care oriented to the needs of rehabilitation patients. Services: Provides therapeutic day services to victims of Alzheimer's Disease or a related dementia as well as education, support and advocacy for family caregivers. Scalabrini Villa has designated the Country Unit as a secured Memory Care Unit. This unit specializes in the care of residents with memory loss and dementia related diagnoses. This Special Care Unit has been developed with a team of professionals who are specialists in the disease process and its’ management. All staff involved in the Memory Care unit receive extensive training giving them the background to develop the therapeutic techniques needed to apply to the various behaviors residents demonstrate, and to understand the traumatic impact of dementia on family caregivers. This unit offers two levels of activity programs daily; evening activities, a newly developed sensory room and an outdoor herbal garden/planters. The goal of the Country Unit is to enhance the independence, safety and dignity of the participants despite their progressive cognitive and functional losses.

In addition to 24 hour/seven days a week nursing care, Saint Antoine Residence offers the following special services: Special Care Unit The Special Care Unit is a 60-bed unit for residents with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. The Unit provides a safe, structured environment that meets physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs throughout the disease progression. An emphasis is placed on residents succeeding, dignity, and support of family members. Short Term Rehabilitative Care Short Term Rehabilitative Care is designed for individuals in need of rehabilitation following hip or knee replacement, heart attack, stroke, or other acute medical event. Our goal is to rehabilitate individuals to restore their previous level of functioning with the goal of returning back to their home. Skilled nursing services; on-site physical, occupational, and speech therapies are available. Short term stays range from one week to several weeks, depending upon the individual’s medical condition.
