Refugee Resettlement Services: In affiliation with Migration & Refugee Services (MRS) of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), staff provides refugee resettlement services. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence has been collaborating with the USCCB/MRS for nearly 30 years in their humanitarian mission of the resettlement of refugees in the United States. This program is appropriate for anyone in need of immigration services and refugee resettlement casework.

Literacy Volunteers of Kent County: An affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of America Trains and provides individual tutors for adults who are unable to read well enough to function in society, and foreign-speaking adults who wish to learn to speak and read the English language.

Immigration Services: family petitions, religious visa petitions, adjustment of status, green card renewals, naturalization, work permit renewals, TPS, DACA, and consultations. Accredited Representation: staff is accredited to represent individuals and families before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence Catholic Social Services if RI is a member agency of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc.

Intermediate and advanced level English language classes designed to help improve communication skills in preparation for job training and/or going directly into the workforce. Staff will create an individual learning plan that best suits your educational needs and career goals. Additional soft skills classes and workshops are included, based on the individual learning plan.

Dorcas International is currently the only agency in Rhode Island that is authorized by the U.S. Department of State to resettle refugees arriving to the U.S. From airport pick-up to securing housing, providing cultural orientation and intensive case management, health screenings, and enrolling children in school and adults in our in-house Educating and Training Program, we serve the immediate needs of resettled refugees. Our goal is to empower recently arrived refugees by providing them with the necessary tools and information to successfully transition into their new communities. The U.S. government places refugees in 49 states by working with none private non-profit national agencies, and Dorcas International is an affiliate partner of one of these official agencies.

CSEA offers beginner, intermediate and advanced ESL Classes to help learners of all backgrounds become proficient in the English language. Initially, students are assessed to gauge their English communication and comprehension skills. Students are then placed in the appropriate level ESL class. Our classes run in trimesters, (4) times a week during the evening hours. ESL classes are offered year round.

The application process varies depending on the immigration status of the individual and application guidelines vary depending on the immigration status. There are fees required by the Department of Homeland Security. In addition, the diocesan office has a fee schedule for the services provided. The financial situation of the client is considered; fees are based on the individual’s income, and payment plans are available.

English for Speakers of Other Languages(ESOL)/English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction is provided on year-round basis. Classes are offered in the daytime, evenings, or Saturdays. Classes are offered at both our campuses. Students are placed into one of three levels English coursework depending on their English proficiency. Focus is on English Communicative skills - listening, speaking, reading, and writing - in order to increase students' interpersonal communications skills, decision-making skills, and problem-solving skills.

PrYSM is a youth organization which challenges and supports Southeast Asian youth to become leaders, organizers, and critical thinkers, by offering educational workshops, leadership opportunities, mentorship, and oversight of youth-led community organizing projects. Coordinating Member of Grassroots Asians Rising- an alliance of grassroots Asian organizations from across the country who have come together to build self-determination for its people in the United States.

The Institute for Labor Studies & Research sponsors workplace based adult literacy instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL).

English as a Second Language Classes: currently there are two English as a Second Language (ESL) offered classes at Blessed Sacrament Church 239 Regent Avenue, Providence, R.I. The class times and schedules vary depending on the class, some are held during the day and others in the evenings. The Immigration and Refugee Services also assist many refugee clients who have children. Their children are enrolled in school but need extra help reading, writing and speaking English in order to keep up with their school work. Refugee student tutors set up a schedule with the parents of the student to tutor the child or children twice a week after school for an hour or two each session at the student’s home.

They are dedicated to helping families integrate into American society. AHOPE is an entirely volunteer based organization. their members range from students to professionals, all dedicated to helping develop prosperous Rhode Island communities.

Works to lead and influence change that improves the quality of life for Latinos in Rhode Island. CHisPA works with community groups, educational institutions, federal, state and local government units, foundations and corporations to improve opportunities for Latinos and other minority groups. Services and activities include Information and Referral, an alternative school for high risk youth, community education, leadership development and other capacity-building programs. Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative (RIFLI), based out of Providence Public Library, is a free, nationally recognized ESL, citizenship preparation, workforce development and family literacy program for adults at public libraries throughout Rhode Island.

Rhode Island Regional Adult Learning (RIRAL) is a private nonprofit adult education agency that was established in 1979 and designated by the Rhode Island Department of Education as a regional learning center. their mission is to assist adults in the process of reaching their academic, occupational, or personal goals through education, counseling, and training.

MISSION: To enhance and expand delivery of legal services to indigent and low-income immigrants principally through diocesan immigration programs and to meet the immigration needs identified by the Catholic Church in the United States. CLINIC and its member agencies serve vulnerable and low-income immigrants without reference to their race, religion, gender, ethnic group or distinguishing characteristics.
