Support Groups

The meetings are drop-in groups and offers support to abused women. Confidentiality is stressed and women may come once or often. The focus is on better understanding of the abuse problem, be it emotional, physical or sexual, current or past. The goal is empowerment of the individual.

A support group for adults whose loved ones have died by suicide. The group is comprised of spouses, siblings, and parents who have suffered this particular loss. Meetings are on Wednesdays, in eight week blocks, from 6:00PM - 7:30PM.

Services: Families Reaching Into Each New Day. Friends Way provides free peer based support groups, under the direct supervision of mental health professionals, for children and teens who are mourning the death of a loved one, usually a parent or sibling. We also provide crisis intervention, education and training on the subject of children's grief and loss to schools, mental health professionals, clergy and the community at large.

The Ocean Tides School Providence Campus is an alternative day school for students in grades seven through twelve. GAMBLERS ANONYMOUS is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from a gambling problem. This program also provide information and resources for people inquiring about gambling recovery. Not allied with any sect denomination, politics, organization or institution. The primary purpose is to carry the message to the compulsive gambler who still suffers. Values anonymity for the group and organization.

Clinical support groups are consistently a beneficial intervention for the clients and families. Offers clinical support groups for survivors of sexual abuse (child, teen and adults) and their parents and caregivers. Offers groups focusing on healthy self-esteem, socialization and healing from trauma. Justice Resource Institute’s My Life My Choice (MLMC) Support Group. This 10 session group is designed to empower youth to protect themselves from the commercial sex industry and its perpetrators; explore what makes a healthy relationship; improve self-esteem; and provide positive interaction with peers, medical professionals, law enforcement officers, and survivors. This group beneficial for all teenage girls, as all teenage girls are at risk for exploitation. Clients do not need to have a sexual abuse history to benefit from this group. Non-profit agency offering comprehensive treatment programs for boys and girls traumatized by abuse or experiencing the challenges of psychiatric disorders. Includes therapy, prevention, education, seminars, workshops etc. Children are treated and cared for in the residential, educational and out-patient programs located in North Providence, Rhode Island.
