Drug recovery meetings

The monthly diabetes support group sponsored by the Visiting Nurse Services Home and Hospice is held at the Edward King Senior Center, 35 King St., Newport RI. The meeting is open to the public, and no appointment or referral is needed. Diabetes Support Groups are open to all those living with diabetes. The group is provided free of charge by Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice. Each meeting is facilitated by a certified diabetes educator. No registration or doctor’s referral is required. Education and support for breast cancer patients and their families. Circle of Friends meetings are one hour long once a month held at the Therapy Department.

You will get one message each week with tips and activities for teaching your child skills like communication, coping, balancing emotions, problem solving and more. Greatest 8 is for children from birth through age 8. Messages are based on your child’s month and year of birth.

Eleven free support sessions for victims of violent crimes. Also provides faith-sensitive professional (not a psychiatrist) counseling for individuals ages10+, and families in the areas of abuse issues; adult children of alcoholics, anxiety, behavioral changes, bereavement, depression, identity crises, marital or family problems, rape, religious or meaning-of-life crises, sexual identity concerns, stress, vocational crises. Purpose is to assist persons to live a deep, meaningful and fulfilling life. Also, clergy coaching, church consulting, and educational programs for groups (parenting, stress reduction, dream work).

The UCP Rhode Island Children & Family Services program provides services to children with disabilities and their families under Rhode Island�s Home Based Therapeutic Services Program (HBTS). Medicaid eligible children (up to age 21) are provided comprehensive periodic evaluations to supplement the treatment of various medical conditions. Works with families to develop service plans for their children and assists the families to secure HBTS funding. Once a plan is approved, UCPRI provides case management and services, therapies, and training for the child and family. The object is to apply individualized services that permit the child to live at home and take an active part in school and community. UCPRI�s services may help relieve some of the financial strains that make raising a child with disabilities so stressful to both the family and child. Other Children & Family Services:

Provides information, referral and advocacy to families with children who have special needs. Angels On Horseback Therapeutic Riding School, Inc. provides equine assisted therapy to children and adults with mentally and physically challenging conditions. The offer an 10 or 12 week session lesson program. Angels On Horseback is also the home of Cavalry Heroes. This is a support group for people dealing with alcoholism. Meetings are held throughout the state to help those in recovery.
