Social Support Group for Adults with Asperger's Syndrome. Sponsored by the Asperger/Autism Network, Rhode Island Chapter, Hosted at Bradley Hospital in the Pine Room. This support group is facilitated by Arthur Mercurio of the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities (CADD) at Bradley Hospital. It is free and meets the second Monday of each month. A Brown University affiliated psychiatric center providing care for infants, children, adolescents, young adults and their families. Services include a full range of mental health and special educational programs for children with emotional and/or developmental disabilities. Treatment is provided through a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, special education teachers, speech and language pathologists, pediatricians and milieu therapists. **Center for Autism Director: Rowland Barrett, Ph.D. Services: Highly specialized inpatient, partial hospitalization outpatient program for children and young adults with emotional and behavioral disorders combined with a developmental disability such as retardation and autism. **Inpatient Services Director: Child and Adolescent: Henry Sachs, MD Services: Comprehensive multi-disciplinary treatment program for children/ adolescents in crisis. Services include stabilization, short-term treatment in a secure environment, 24 hour care in a less restrictive environment, partial hospitalization for children who can return home at night and in-home care. **Outpatient Services Director: Karyn Horowitz, MD Services: A full range of outpatient evaluation and treatment programs. Specialty areas include individual, family and group therapy, Attention Deficit Disorder, child neuropsychological assessment, school and learning problems, anxiety disorders, trauma adjustment, behavioral problems, depression and communication disorders. Emphasis is placed on supporting families in learning strategies to manage challenging behaviors and support their young child's development. **The Bradley School Director: Dale Radka, MD Services: A fully accredited special education program for children/adolescents who are having difficulty learning. Bradley School integrates individual and family therapy and other mental health services with its educational services to treat the behavioral and emotional issues affecting the child's learning. Services include comprehensive and short-term diagnostic evaluations, accredited special education school, summer camp and on-site school counseling. Income Source: Patient fees; third party reimbursements; grants; gifts.

Mutual support groups whose members are people who have a disability, illness or other health condition, their families and friends. The groups meet in-person, by telephone or via the Internet; and provide an opportunity for participants to share information, resources, practical tips for daily living and encouragement about issues related to the disability or health problem.

The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network is the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE and the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline at rainn.org, and publicizes the hotline's free, confidential services; educates the public about sexual assault; and leads national efforts to prevent sexual assault, improve services to victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice. RAINN is supported by volunteers, donors, corporations and grants.

Provides financial compensation to crime victims and dependants of homicide victims for such expenses as medical bills, loss of earnings and funeral expenses, up to $25,000.

Services: The department is comprised of six divisions designed to inform, entertain and enrich the lives of those who participate : ** Adult Day Services--Professionally designed programs to meet the needs of frail individuals with physical and/or cognitive impairments. Professional staff consists of registered nurses, a case manager, physical therapy assistant and certified nursing assistants. Therapeutic programs include music, art, physical, occupational, speech, aroma, pet therapy. Recreational activities include crafts, painting, exercise, gardening, Tai Chi and Yoga for elders. Intergenerational programs with local schools provide enrichment opportunities for both young and old alike. Support and Referral Services for each participant and their families, coordination with physicians and other service providers. Cost is based on a sliding fee scale. Licensed by the RI Department of Elderly Affairs. **Nutrition--Provides hot, nutritious, homemade lunches served at 11:45am, Monday through Friday. Snack bar with freshly baked goods, soups and much more. Night Life--Dinners, Thursday at 5pm in the Spring and Fall. **Programs--Offers activities that enable seniors to expand their horizons, enrich their lives and pursue a variety of interests. Our programs promote wellness, health maintenance, personal dignity and self worth. Individual needs, interests, skills and abilities are addressed through a variety of stimulating educational, social and health activities to improve the quality of life. **Retired Senior Volunteer Program--Allows anyone 55+ years of age the opportunity to help make the community a better place to live by sharing themselves with others. Participants gain personal satisfaction by serving at a public or non-profit agency. They also have fun by participating in interesting and rewarding experiences. Seniors serve from one to 40 hours a week; RSVP provides guidance and support, transportation, meals and insurance for all volunteers. Social Services--A caring staff of professional case managers and a Community Elder Information Specialist is available to provide support and counseling to seniors and their families, provide access to a network of service providers throughout the city and state, assist with the many available services, offer comfort and compassion, visit homebound seniors to assess and case manage, coordinate Support Groups such as Widow/Widower; Arthritis; Reminiscence. Our staff is available to speak to your community organization on a wide variety of issues. ** Transvan, (401) 943-3341--You don't have to be dependent on your family. Transvan, our daily transportation system for 60+ and/or disabled Cranston residents is available to provide transportation anywhere in Cranston, Monday through Friday. Provides shuttles to nearby malls and local markets. Provides transportation to doctors, nursing homes and hospitals in Providence, North Providence, Johnston and Warwick by appointment.

SAMHSA’s Disaster Distress Helpline provides 24/7, 365-day-a-year crisis counseling and support to people experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters. This crisis support service is for anyone experiencing emotional distress related to disasters such as: Tornadoes and Severe Storms, Hurricanes and Tropical Storms, Floods, Wildfires, Earthquakes, Drought, Incidents of Mass Violence. The Disaster Distress Helpline also answers calls and texts related to infectious disease outbreaks, such as the Ebola outbreak, incidents of community unrest, and other traumatic events. This service is hotline /online only.

The monthly diabetes support group sponsored by the Visiting Nurse Services Home and Hospice is held at the Edward King Senior Center, 35 King St., Newport RI. The meeting is open to the public, and no appointment or referral is needed. Diabetes Support Groups are open to all those living with diabetes. The group is provided free of charge by Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice. Each meeting is facilitated by a certified diabetes educator. No registration or doctor’s referral is required. Behavioral Health Link is a comprehensive program to service individuals who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis (mental health and/or substance abuse use) by establishing a community based, 24/7 hotline and triage center. BH has 5 treatment bays and can assist 8-10 individuals at one time. Easy Bay- (East Providence) Provides: behavioral health services ranging from emergency services, general and intensive community-based outpatient treatment, substance use treatment, and other services.

Dedicated to addressing the challenges of both the human services and educational systems and the persons and families these systems were created to serve. Clinicians at Integrated Clinical Services provide outpatient services using standard dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). This includes individual and group therapy using DBT and the Skills System to treat individuals with learning challenges and/or intellectual disabilities.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States. The Lifeline is comprised of a national network of over 200 local crisis centers, combining custom local care and resources with national standards and best practices. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is funded by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and administered by Vibrant Emotional Health. Loveisrespect strives to be a safe, inclusive space for young people to access information and get help in an environment that is designed specifically for them. Comprehensive education on healthy, unhealthy and abusive dating relationships and behaviors. Loveisrespect also mobilizes parents, educators, peers and survivors to proactively raise awareness on healthy dating behaviors and how to identify unhealthy and abusive patterns. Provides trainings, toolkits, and curriculum, growing the community educators and advocates promoting healthy relationships and preventing future patterns of abuse.

Emergency Hotline

Non-profit membership organization providing information, education, resources and referral, advocacy and monthly support groups through our Resource Center. Education and prevention trainings free of charge to schools, professional agencies and community organizations.

Hotline advocates are available for victims and anyone calling on their behalf to provide crisis intervention, safety planning, information and referrals to agencies in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. If you or someone you know is frightened about something in your relationship, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

The SAMHSA Drug-Free Workplace Helpline provides confidential, practical, impartial, and up-to-date information, advice, and support free of charge to employees and their families. Topics cover a wide range of issues related to federal and non-federal Drug-Free Workplace Programs and drug testing. This service is designed to equip employees and their families with essential knowledge to resolve issues at work and/or in their personal lives. The helpline is staffed Monday through Friday by professional advisers, including workplace specialists and certified Employee Assistance Program (EAPs) providers.

Education and support for breast cancer patients and their families. Circle of Friends meetings are one hour long once a month held at the Therapy Department.

Strives to increase public awareness of pathological gambling, ensure the widespread availability of treatment for problem gamblers and their families, and to encourage research and programs for prevention and education.
