Drop In Centers | Wakefield Oasis
The Wakefield Oasis is an affiliate of the Mental Health Consumer Advocates of Rhode Island, Inc. This non-profit statewide advocacy, education, and socialization center empowers adults who have experienced psychiatric symptoms or who receive mental health services. MHCA of RI, Inc., has been in operation since 1985.

Services: English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for adults; International Friendship program; foreign language classes; World discovery classroom project; orientation program for international students, doctors and business trainees who are temporarily in Rhode Island; nationality events, dinners and teas. Also informal counseling and linkage to community services and organizations. Low cost guest rooms. Drop-in center. Aid and services for all temporary international residents in the southern New England area.

The Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County works toward a future free from violence. They work collaboratively to offer safety, support, advocacy, education and a network of services to residents of Washington County. DVRCSC has a confidential safe home for women who face homelessness as a result of domestic violence. Additional services include a Drop-In Advocacy Center, Support Groups and One-on-One Counseling by appointment. They offer education and outreach on the subject of healthy relationships, dating violence, cyber stalking and techno-abuse.
DVRCSC can provide Court Advocates at McGrath Judicial Complex in Wakefield.

Serves West End, Elmwood and South Providence. Also serves Greater Providence and State of Rhode Island depending on program and service needs. **Holiday programs for West end residents ONLY.**
A multi-service organization providing infant/toddler and pre-school day care for children. After school programs, tutoring and formal educational, recreational, sports and character building programs; minority health education, tobacco use prevention, mentoring, family and individual counseling, social case work, girls emergency shelter, boys group home, boys supervised living program. Addresses problems related to housing, unemployment, civic responsibility, voter registration and food distribution. Administers the Providence Comprehensive Emergency Services (CES) Program for prevention of child abuse. The Family Renewal Center (FRC) provides special services to families of color. Project New Hope and Youth New Futures (YNF) serve youth returning from the Rhode Island Training School. Child Adolescent Service (CASSP) serves adolescents experiencing mental health problems.

We maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive file of resources in major life areas such as housing, employment, education, medical, mental health, substance abuse, and transportation. Clients can use our telephone or computer lab to communicate with employers, family members, and probation or parole officers. Our resource center has a full schedule of programming, ranging from job readiness to financial literacy to support groups. We can also serve as a temporary address. Check the monthly calendar for more info.

Drop In Centers | Parent Support Network of Rhode Island
A statewide organization of families supporting families with children and youth who are at risk or have behavioral or emotional challenges, having consideration for their background and values. They provide support groups, telephone support, educational events, one-to-one assistance with advocacy and/or literature concerning education, mental health, parenting a child with special emotional or behavioral needs. PSN also provides support and education regarding systems navigation, specifically child welfare, juvenile justice, mental health special education.
Support groups meet on 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6pm to 8pm at PSN office.
Income source: State contract, federal grants
