The James L. Maher Center operates residential programs for its participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities. New Meadows is one of 11 group homes for adults with developmental disabilities in several East Bay and Aquidneck Island communities. Programs and supports in each group home are customized to the needs of residents with differing abilities. The facility is staffed with professionals who have the special skills and experience required to attend to the needs of the residents of the group home. In all cases, staff are careful to match participants with residential support program that will help to ensure a positive outcome.

The facility is a 214-bed, acute care hospital, and a member of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity. They provide emergency, diagnostic, medical, surgical, cancer, cardiac, pain management, and obstetric care.

1890 House offers 53 units of project-based Section 8 in a high-rise style building. This unique property features a mix of 1 bedroom apartments and studios with 25% of units set aside for Veterans.

All of our Home Health Aides have a license with the Department of Health, are under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and are bonded and insured. OSCIL’s knowledgeable staff can assist consumer’s in setting goals for self-sufficiency in the home. Centers for Independent Living teach a wide range of skills needed to live independently and manage life with a disability. Skills training is available to persons with disabilities in almost any topic where there is a need for more independence. CILs work with individuals to increase their skills which can help them gain more control of their lives. Skills training can include basic everyday responsibilities such as: self-care, meal preparation, budgeting, and arranging transportation. It also can address housing needs, teaching individuals the importance of self-advocacy, one’s need for accommodations and/or rights in the community. ***Life skills training is goal directed and does not involve long-term case management or therapeutic intervention. As part of OSCIL’s mission to provide outreach, education and opportunities for peer support, OSCIL offers Lunch and Learn workshops highlighting various solutions that can increase access in your home and community. Your Family Visitor can also help you become more confident in your role as a parent as it relates to healthy child development. Family Visitors can also help you become more self-sufficient by partnering with you to identify your family’s goals.

Services: Houses 29 families and 8 women daily. Shelter stays are limited to 90 days but can be renewed based on progress demonstrated by participants or impending permanent housing. Case managers assist participants with healthcare, employment and establishing permanent housing. Help also available for: mental health issues, addiction, developmental delays in children, parenting and domestic violence. Case managers access services directly through Family Resources Community Action Program or collaborative agreements with other local non profit organizations.

Day Program - a service program designed to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities including autism behavioral and emotional disabilities. Access to vocational, social and communications skill programs allow clients to reach their greatest level of independence, productivity, empowerment and community access. Residential Program - provides a variety of residential accommodations for adults with developmental disabilities and special needs. To respond to the needs of adults with developmental disabilities, autism, emotional disorders and other challenging behaviors to help them reach their greatest level of independence, productivity and integration. Crime Victim Support at Westbay Community Action includes: FCCP: A voluntary program for children who are at risk for abuse or neglect or who have serious emotional disturbance. FCCP connects families with natural supports in their extended families and in the community. FCCP does not provide direct services. Instead the program provides referrals, support, guidance, and advocacy. Elder Case Management: Provides assessment, monitoring and protective services for seniors. Warwick Case Management: Offers long-term support services to at-risk Warwick residents.
