The Ocean State Center for Independent Living works to improve the life experience for people with disability by promoting self-direction and integration into the community, and provides a wide range of independent living services to help individuals meet these goals.

Founded in 1971, CODAC Behavioral Healthcare is Rhode Island’s oldest and largest non-profit, outpatient provider of treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). With seven community-based locations, as well as programming at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RI DOC), CODAC is well-positioned to deliver services wherever they are needed across the state. CODAC offers psychiatric and mental health services at all of their locations. After an initial intake screening you may be referred to an on-site psychiatric practitioner for further evaluation and treatment. Individualized treatment and recovery plans might include medication management supervised by the psychiatric practitioner and ongoing co-occurring counseling with clinical staff. It is not unusual to have both mental health disorders and a substance use disorder. Because the two conditions are so closely linked, CODAC has responded to offer you effective treatment and recovery programs to address both disorders concurrently.

VNA of Care New England's physical therapists help patients restore movement and function, ease pain, and increase strength and mobility. Using a wide range of techniques, they work in the patient's home to evaluate and treat problems with moving, balance, strength, and conditioning. This may involve retraining skills that the patient had before an illness or teaching new skills such as using a walker or cane. The physical therapists will help develop an individualized exercise program to help patients achieve their goals. Physical therapists also focus on fall prevention and home safety to allow patients to remain at home, with each care plan designed with the patient’s unique home environment in mind. The Tomorrow Fund sponsors a bereavement aftercare program that is facilitated by Clinical Social Workers and includes a monthly support group for bereaved parents.

Nursing Services- It can be difficult for many clients who have a health condition to manage it without assistance. Our nursing services provide each individual with a personal nurse who'll conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the client's needs and create a care plan that allows them to live as comfortable as possible at home. The following services are included: Diabetic Management and Education, Wound Care, Education for Both Client and Family about the Disease Process, Medication Administration and Management, Wound Care, RN on call 24/7 for urgent situations, Private Duty.

Offers Transitional Housing Program for men and women who are homeless and looking to achieve sobriety. Permanent supportive housing includes five rooming houses (35 rooms) and 22 apartments. First priority is given to graduates of the 90-Day Transitional Housing Program. Residents live in a clean and sober community and continue to benefit from Amos House programs and services. Registered Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site: Staff of tax preparers are IRS trained, tested, and certified to help people who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit program receive the tax credits they deserve. THIS IS A FREE SERVICE. You must bring a copy of your previous year's return, all financial statements pertaining to tax year 2018, your social security card, and a picture ID. Employment Training Programs including: culinary arts, carpentry and literacy training programs.
