Independent program awarding grants to non-profit organizations in Rhode Island in support of Public Humanities Projects such as lectures, panel discussions, film series, dramatic presentations, exhibits, film productions, television and radio programming. Creates and conducts public humanities programs in the workplace. Offers a speakers bureau (small fee required). Humanities refers to a field of study such as history, literature, language, the law, philosophy, ethics, religion.

Support and advocacy for the blind. Monthly meetings focus mainly on advocacy activities such as legislative and public policy development and public education. However, peer support for individuals is available and provided as needed. Purpose of the group is to foster positive attitudes towards blindness for both the blind and sighted communities. Chapters The Greater Providence Chapter of the NFB of RI meets on the second Saturday of each month, except for the months of July and October from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and they are preceded by a social half hour at 10 Office Parkway, in East Providence. The Mount Hope Chapter of the NFB of RI meets on the third Thursday of each month, except for October and December from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, preceded by a social half hour. Meetings are held at the Rogers Free Library, located at 525 Hope Street, in Bristol. The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Foundation provides funds to worthy organizations with proceeds generated from special events held on RITBA properties throughout the year. The Foundation partners with local communities and nonprofit organizations that positively impact the lives of Rhode Islanders.

Westerly Education Center is managed by the State Of Rhode Island’s Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner. Founded in 2017, the Westerly Education Center is a public-private collaboration designed to bring together higher education, business, industry, and community partners to provide high-quality educational programs to meet projected workforce growth in the region. WEC delivers high-quality educational classes to meet projected workforce growth in the region. All Rhode Island public higher education institutions (University of Rhode Island, Community College of Rhode Island, and Rhode Island College), the Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner, and the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training are partners in the effort to provide workforce training and improved regional access to curricula offerings. The center is available for any business wishing to rent classrooms or the multi-use room for training sessions, meetings, webinars and more. If desired, businesses can opt to engage with the center’s higher education partners to develop customized courses. Whether training new hires or offering professional development for current staff, the center is ideal for off-site programming.

The Fogarty Center offers individual Person-Centered services for job seekers with intellectual/developmental disabilities by offering a comprehensive progression of employment-related services. These services include; Discovery, Career Exploration, Job Trial/Assessment, Placement, Job Coaching and Monitoring. The Fogarty Center also supports adults by planning meaningful activities throughout the day, based on personal preference, within a variety of settings including day programs as well as locations within the community. Meal Assistance Program for Students (MAPS) provides school lunch assistance to Warwick public school students. Senior Dining Program provides weekday hot lunches to seniors and disabled adults. Westbay Farm provides fresh produce to the Westbay Marketplace. Westbay Marketplace is our regional food pantry.
