RI Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a federal program that provides monthly payments to people with limited income and resources. YPI is committed to building a strong and vocal community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQQ) youth and their allies to ensure that they are heard and accepted as members and leaders in our community. Youth, ages 13-23, are encouraged to hang out in YPIs Drop-In Center, participate in activities and programming, or use other services such as tutoring or support services. peech-language therapy involves corrective treatment of physical and/or cognitive disorders that cause difficulty with communication and/or swallowing. We help patients develop language and speech skills to regain control and increase their communication skills. We also teach patients and family members safe and appropriate swallowing techniques for eating and drinking.

Archie R. Cole Middle School is an establishment that services children in sixth, seventh, and eight grade.

Free smoke detectors available (and carbon monoxide detectors when available) to low income and handicapped residents of one, two and three-family houses in Providence. Smoke and carbon monoxide detector inspections are required for all new houses and on any homes that are being sold.

Provides demonstrations, training, and long-term loan and device reutilization services of specialized telephone equipment to qualified individuals who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, have a speech disability, or have neuromuscular damage or disease, which hinders them from using a standard telephone. Assistive Technology Many people with disabilities face barriers that prevent them from living independently in their homes, and in many cases, they are also unaware of the many devices that can improve their daily lives. OSCIL works with individuals to acquire appropriate devices and provide training on the use of those devices to enhance the individual’s independence within their home and community. Assistive Technology Access Partnership (ATAP) OSCIL is one of 4 partners participating in the Assistive Technology Access Partnership (ATAP) program. ATAP is designed as a statewide partnership of organizations, each with a targeted assistive technology focus, working together to improve access to and acquisition of assistive technology for individuals with disabilities. Some programs may have income limits. An OSCIL Independent Living Coordinator will be happy to guide you and recommend the best program for your unique needs. OSCIL CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH THE SMART HOME TECHNOLOGY TO MODIFY YOUR HOME TO HELP YOU REACH YOUR GOALS AND INDEPENDENTLY CONTROL YOUR ENVIRONMENT.
