Golden Ridge Housing Inc. is supportive housing for the elderly. There are 2 residential buildings each containing 17, one-bedroom units. All units are accessible with one unit ADA compliant.

Since 1989, East Bay Coalition for the Homeless (EBCH) has been helping Rhode Island families get back on their feet by providing access to safe, affordable housing combined with case management, financial counseling and connection to mainstream resources. A seamless array of services may be accessed through our in-house or referral network. Services are individualized and designed to help families achieve and maintain financial stability. Families go to them during times of crisis and debt. Whether they need safe, affordable housing or assistance addressing the hazards of lead poisoning, our staff is here to help. EBCH serves households that meet the federal definition of homelessness. Lead education and services are also available to renters and property owners.

OneSource is a free service provided by the Department of Defense to service members and their families to help with a broad range of concerns including money management, spouse employment and education, parenting and child care, relocation, deployment, reunion, and the particular concerns of families with special-needs members.They can also include more complex issues like relationships, stress, and grief. The program can be especially helpful to service members and their families who live at a distance from installations.

To apply contact your local bank or credit union that has a loan servicing office or through a HUD approved and HHFRI certified counselor. Rhode island Housing can be contacted for assistance. Clients who call this number will be given a Point of contact in the package they receive in the mail with the information of a HUD-approved counselor.

Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship The Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship supports the philosophy and spirit of OSCIL by facilitating access to education for persons having disability. PLEASE NOTE, ONLY RHODE ISLAND RESIDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP. The Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship was established in 1995 by Catherine Murray, a long-time educator and also a board member and valued volunteer at the Ocean State Center for Independent Living. It was her wish to support the philosophy and spirit of OSCIL through a scholarship that gives people with disability access to higher education. Grants of $1000+ are awarded to help students with a disability to continue their education past high school. Scholarship funds can be used for educational expenses such as tuition or the purchase of textbooks. They may also be used to obtain assistive/adaptive equipment or devices that aid the student in meeting their educational goals. To qualify for this scholarship applicants must: -have a significant disability -be a Rhode Island resident (Your home address MUST be in RI) -plan to attend a college, technical school, or a trade/vocational program in the upcoming academic year Preference is based on career goals, merit, and economic need.

Peer support in a non-structured environment where mental health consumers can stop by to relax, socialize and help develop whatever services and programs they want. Activities run as members feel appropriate. Mental health referral services available. The Oasis Advocacy & Social Center is consumer-run.

Programs that pick up and impound or return to their owners domestic animals who have strayed from their homes. Also included are programs that enforce leash laws and animal sanitation ordinances and those that handle complaints regarding domestic animals who have bitten someone or are otherwise making nuisances of themselves. Most animal control programs are unable to handle nuisance wildlife unless the animal is sick or shows symptoms of rabies.

Head Start educators work with families and children to implement developmental and socialization strategies that work best for you and your child. Our classrooms are bright and inviting and are designed to maximize creativity and learning. Healthy lunches and snacks are provided to children daily. In addition to providing educational and nutritional resources, children will have access to health and dental screenings at no cost, and families will be provided with health referrals and referrals for emergency services whenever needed.
