RIEOC has been an integral part of the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) assisting individuals with applying for financial aid (FAFSA) and completing college admissions applications. The EOC office also provides an array of other services: career counseling, GED and English as a Second Language classes referrals, assistance with foreign education evaluations, financial literacy and general educational information dissemination. Westbay’s Lead Center provides a Case Manager who will walk families through the application process. This program provides forgivable loans to mitigate the hazards of lead-based paint and to make your home a healthier and safer place to live. The LeadSafe Homes Program is available to homeowners and landlords at no cost to qualifying customers. The Lead Center provides community outreach and education about lead-related issues. Westbay’s case managers can make home visits to assess for lead hazards and/or provide education to families with children under six years of age with no referral. Assessment The Lead Center offers free in-home lead assessments to any property owner, landlord, or tenant worried about lead paint hazards. Assessments are especially important for households with young children and for those who are planning to renovate. Case Management The Lead Center provides non-medical case management for families of children with lead poisoning. Case managers help families coordinate medical care, developmental screenings, and nutritional counseling. They can also offer assistance with housing inspections or relocation.

The Public Utilities Commission comprises two distinct regulatory bodies: a three-member Commission (Commission) and the Division of Public Utilities and Carriers (Division). Although two distinct regulatory bodies, the Commission and Division generally operate in concert. This is evidenced by the Division’s status as an indispensable party in all Commission proceedings, and the Division’s statutory charge to enforce all directives of the Commission. Both entities may conduct inquiries, investigations and hearings to effectuate their respective duties. Both may issue orders that have the force and effect of law. The Division is also legislatively required to maintain a website in accordance with RIGL section 39-1-18. The Division makes every effort to insure that this legislative mandate is carried out. Girl Scouting helps cultivate values, social conscience and self-esteem in girls, while also teaching them critical life skills that will enable them to succeed as adults. In Girl Scouting, and its special girl only environment, girls discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. The program is delivered through troops comprised of five age levels: Daisy, 5 - 6 years old; Brownie, 6 - 8 years; Junior, 8 - 11 years old; Cadette, 11 - 14 years old and Senior, 14 - 17 years old. Individual memberships are available for girls who cannot attend regular troop meetings. A summer camp program is conducted at six camps throughout the council's area. Bilingual Hispanic staff. Troop Leader/Co-Leader: Work with a group of girls and mentor them as they make new friends and develop connections that will last a lifetime. Troop Family and Friends: Assist with driving, activity planning, snacks, money management, or other tasks necessary to keep the troop running oh-so-smoothly from week to week. Cookie Volunteers: Coordinate the annual cookie sale at the troop level. Set up cookie booths, manage inventory and money, and then watch the girls light up when they earn the rewards for being the best cookie sellers ever! Service Unit Volunteers: Mentor adult volunteers as they work with Girl Scouts to create memories they will never forget. Neighborhood Friendly Visitor Program A community-based volunteer program that provides weekly visitors to isolated elderly and disabled adults in Rhode Island. The program was developed in 1978 by Sister Rhea Lachapelle of the Sisters of Saint Ann to address the needs of a growing and diverse population of elderly living alone with little or no social support. Any elder (60 + years) or disabled person that is homebound, residing in any elderly care facility ( nursing homes, assisted living or patients at hospitals) is eligible for this program. There are no income guidelines and there is no fee for this service. Friendly Visitor volunteers are available state-wide. Volunteers have supplied personnel references and passed a background check through the office of the attorney general. The program has on-going recruitment of volunteers who make a commitment to visit or call the elderly for at least one hour each week. This program is funded in Partnership with the Rhode Island Office of Healthy Aging.
