The mission of the Central Falls Housing Authority is to provide safe, decent and affordable housing and to establish programs that educate, enhance and empower the lives of all the people in the community they serve. CFHA maintains 327 public housing units, serving 500+ residents. In addition, they administer 553 Housing Choice Vouchers housing 1400 residents. Oversees subsidized housing for elderly/disabled: Forand Manor Annex, Wilfrid Manor; manages the Section 8 Voucher Program.

They have developed extensive knowledge and expertise to help individuals access individualized, trauma-informed adult education, job training and support services. Their Employment Resource Center offers one-on-one help with resumes, job searching, online job applications and career exploration. The Resource Center is also a great place to connect with our other education and job training programs.

The Department's primary function is the implementation of state laws mandating the regulation and licensing of designated businesses, professions, occupations and other specified activities. The areas regulated include Banking, Securities, Commercial Licensing, Gaming and Athletics, Insurance, Accountants and Design Professionals. Emergency Food Pantry Outreach Services are offered to the senior (60+) and disabled adult population of Scituate to assist with applications for financial and benefit assistance, including SNAP (Food Stamps), Fuel Assistance, Housing, and Medical Insurance, as well as information or referral to Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry.

Medicaid programs offered by states that have been authorized by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to waive certain Medicaid statutory requirements giving them more flexibility in Medicaid program operation. Included are home and community care based (HCBC) waiver programs operated under Section 1915(c) of the Social Security Act that allow long-term care services to be delivered in community settings; managed care/freedom of choice waiver programs operated under Section 1915(b) of the Social Security Act which allow states to implement managed care delivery systems or otherwise limit individuals' choice of provider under Medicaid.

Using curriculum based learning, participants develop skills in areas such as interviewing, work relationships, time management, conflict resolution and problem solving.

Neighborhood Friendly Visitor Program A community-based volunteer program that provides weekly visitors to isolated elderly and disabled adults in Rhode Island. The program was developed in 1978 by Sister Rhea Lachapelle of the Sisters of Saint Ann to address the needs of a growing and diverse population of elderly living alone with little or no social support. Any elder (60 + years) or disabled person that is homebound, residing in any elderly care facility ( nursing homes, assisted living or patients at hospitals) is eligible for this program. There are no income guidelines and there is no fee for this service. Friendly Visitor volunteers are available state-wide. Volunteers have supplied personnel references and passed a background check through the office of the attorney general. The program has on-going recruitment of volunteers who make a commitment to visit or call the elderly for at least one hour each week. This program is funded in Partnership with the Rhode Island Office of Healthy Aging.

Project Based Development Ralph aRusso Manor consists of twenty-two one-bedroom apartments for seniors and the disabled. Supportive services for persons with disabilities are available. The building has two stories but lacks an elevator. The building is located in a rural setting, very close to public transportation.
