Through education and training, the Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies at the University of Rhode Island seeks to institutionalize and internationalize nonviolence as a process that promotes the establishment of a global beloved community. Our Center was founded in 1998 to develop nonviolence leadership to engage in teaching, research, and service related to peaceful problem solving and conflict reconciliation. The Wyatt Detention Facility is a maximum security, 746-bed facility housing adult detainees who are in the custody of the US Marshal Service (USMS). It is Rhode Island�s only adult correction facility to be accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). The facility is owned and operated by the Central Falls Detention Facility Corporation, a quasi-private corporation made of up a five-member board of directors.

PPAC is a 3100-seat, world class venue located in the heart of Providence’s arts and entertainment district; it is the second largest theatre of its kind in the country.
