The Gaming and Athletics section is responsible for supervising the enforcement of laws related to licensing and regulation of gaming and athletics activities, including boxing, mixed martial arts, and simulcast wagering. It is also responsible for the collection of racing taxes and fees, as specified by state law. The division promulgates rules and regulations governing pari-mutuel wagering, boxing, and mixed martial arts; handles licensing, finger printing and photo badging of all personnel and licensees; ensures that security is furnished by licensees of pari-mutuel facilities, boxing, and mixed martial arts events; and provides aid and assistance to the public, as requested, including forms and copies of rules and regulations. The section also oversees simulcast-wagering operations at Twin River Casino Hotel and Tiverton Casino Hotel and/or participates in collection of tax revenue, hearings and issues occupational licenses. The section enforces, adjusts, amends, and interprets all rules and regulations governing pari-mutuel wagering sports and all professional boxing and mixed martial arts events in the state.

They take in animals from Scituate and Foster and provide care until we can find good homes for them. They also socialize all cats and dogs who need such work in order to be ready for life in a home and with a family. The shelter staff and the volunteers will go to great lengths to find homes for all animals that we have at the shelter.

CODAC East Bay, serving East Providence, Barrington, Warren, Pawtucket and surrounding areas, treats more than 350 patients weekly. Programs include medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD), intensified treatment programs (IOP), general outpatient treatment (GO) for alcohol and other substance use, behavioral healthcare services, tobacco cessation programs, and services for gambling addiction. CODAC East Bay, along with all other CODAC locations, has been awarded the designation of Center of Excellence (COE) for the treatment of opioid use disorder. As a designated COE, they have met or exceeded the highest standards of care (as determined by RI state agencies), are able to provide expedited access to treatment, and offer at least two of the three FDA approved medications for the treatment of opioid use disorder (methadone, buprenorphine (SuboxoneTM, SubutexTM) and oral and depot naltrexone (VivitrolTM). CODAC sites are currently the only providers in RI authorized to dispense all three of these medications. As a COE, CODAC guarantees that treatment will begin within 48 hours of your first phone call. In addition to individual counseling, CODAC East Bay offers a rich and comprehensive selection of group counseling opportunities, including groups for pre- and post-partum women; early recovery patients; co-occurring patients; DUI referrals; tobacco cessation and problem gambling patients; anger management referrals; and groups for adolescents. Offerings change over time to reflect shifting patient needs and interests.

Mental Health Services- Social workers and mental health providers provide psychosocial evaluations, individual, group and family counseling, substance abuse and counseling. Assistance can be provided to access local community resources. Pharmacy - All prescriptions for medications are transmitted by computer to the Providence VA Medical Center daily and then mailed directly to your home. Refills are obtained either by sending a signed refill slip to the Providence VA Medical Center or using our convenient phone system. Foundations Academy (formerly the Regional Alternative Program): Provides special needs students - diagnosed with behavioral and emotional disorders - with an alternative to traditional schools. Foundations Academy (formerly the Specialized Alternative Program): Students who learn differently and have different abilities need the help and guidance of educators who are specially trained to develop and maximize those abilities. Educators in the Foundations Academy work to identify a student’s skills and their potential for learning new skills. Educators, parents and students then develop a progressive plan tailored to an individual’s educational needs and social well-being.
