EBCAP’s Community Programs are designed to help people to reach their full potential. It is their goal to create the bridge to self-reliance. Their programs improve lives through education, skills training, and clinical care when needed. A program like Baby Steps is a great place for parents to learn how their child develops. Their Home Energy Assistance Program helps those who can’t afford to heat their homes. Through the Congregate Nutrition Program, seniors received a healthy warm meal through their local Senior Centers. Head Start Programs teach the importance of a child’s healthy development so they can grow and thrive! The AmeriCorps Foster Grandparent Program offers a way for individuals 55 and older to stay active by serving children and youth in communities while providing a unique service built on the natural bond between generations. Their AmeriCorps East Bay Retired and Senior Volunteer Program places individuals 55 and older volunteering in many programs and nonprofits in the East Bay area. Their Volunteer Income Tax Program (VITA) provides fee tax preparation for income eligible individuals. Education and Career Pathways helps with educational goals, job readiness skills and improved career options. Their food pantries offer twice monthly food distribution. Senior Services provides options and resources to help income eligible seniors remain in the community. Satellite location of EBCAP. Food Pantry Victims of Crime Act- Advocacy for Crime Victims Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Feeding and Nutrition Program provides food vouchers, allowing them to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, juice and iron fortified cereals and formula. The WIC coordinator provides nutrition education and counseling to all program participants on a monthly basis.

The UCP Rhode Island Children & Family Services program provides services to children with disabilities and their families under Rhode Island�s Home Based Therapeutic Services Program (HBTS). Medicaid eligible children (up to age 21) are provided comprehensive periodic evaluations to supplement the treatment of various medical conditions. Works with families to develop service plans for their children and assists the families to secure HBTS funding. Once a plan is approved, UCPRI provides case management and services, therapies, and training for the child and family. The object is to apply individualized services that permit the child to live at home and take an active part in school and community. UCPRI�s services may help relieve some of the financial strains that make raising a child with disabilities so stressful to both the family and child. Other Children & Family Services:
  • CAP (Community Activities Project) provides financial support enabling children with disabilities to participate in community and recreational activities.
Provides information, referral and advocacy to families with children who have special needs. UCPRI will assist families in identifying their needs (home health care, learning, recreation) and work with them to secure funding. Adult Education: UCP Rhode Island�s Adult Education Community Classrooms meet throughout RI. Instruction is individualized, based on the personal learning goals of each student. Most classes meet for 3 hours a week for 12 weeks. VSA arts Rhode Island maintains an ongoing student exhibition at the RI Department of Education's headquarters in downtown Providence to showcase the variety of artwork produced in the Access the Arts residencies and increase exposure for the talents of these student artists. This program expands awareness of the importance of arts in education. VSA arts Rhode Island provides poetry workshops for adults developmental disabilities, conducted by professional poets, at a variety of community sites throughout Rhode Island. A statewide poetry competition is sponsored annually with Blackstone Valley RI ARC. The first place recipient is given the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Prize. Additionally, VSA arts works with Rhode Island poets to participate in the International “One Heart, One World” Exhibition and other national poetry events. VSA arts Rhode Island, in collaboration with community organizations and galleries, presents exhibitions of artwork created by both emerging and established adult RI artists with disabilities, and sponsors artist receptions that engage the general public.
