YPI is committed to building a strong and vocal community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQQ) youth and their allies to ensure that they are heard and accepted as members and leaders in our community. Youth, ages 13-23, are encouraged to hang out in YPIs Drop-In Center, participate in activities and programming, or use other services such as tutoring or support services. YPI’s drop-in center is a hang out space for LGBTQQ young people and their allies. Play some games, eat a healthy meal, get support and make new friends in a welcoming environment! There’s something different happening every day so come take a dance class, participate in a workshop, do yoga or talk about changing the world. Or just hang out! Private, non-profit 501(c)3 non-denominational, Christian organization. Provides overnight shelter, dental services, food pantry, clothing room, and meal programs. **Overnight Shelter Provides emergency, overnight shelter for 75 to 90 homeless men and 15 to 30 homeless women, seven nights a week. Each overnight guest has the ability to take a hot shower, eat a hot dinner, sleep in a clean bed, and have breakfast in the morning. **Food & Clothing We operate an emergency food pantry and a clothing room. Individuals and families use these services on a daily basis. We distribute approximately 16,000 lbs. of food and 5,000 articles of clothing each month. **Meal Programs Our meal programs provide approximately 6,000 hot meals a month to the needy in our community as well as 1,700 box lunches to the children. In addition to our feeding ministry, we do special events during the holidays. This past Thanksgiving we provided Thanksgiving food boxes for 1,600 families in the Providence area. Each box contained 20 pounds of non-perishable food and a 20 pound turkey. At Christmastime, we provided 9,300 gifts to over 3,100 needy families through our Christmas Toy Ministry. **Dental Offices In a phrase - state-of-the-art. The Providence Rescue Mission features a full service dental office that helps Individuals start a new life with a smile they can proud of. Our office features x-ray, full cleaning, and other dental services. Local dentists and staff see patients by appointment only. **Discipleship Program We run a one-year discipleship program that allows 10 to 15 homeless men with, but not limited to, substance abuse issues to start a new life by combining biblical values, counseling, education and career training and reunification with their families. This program is at capacity most of the time. SRIV's mission is to recruit volunteers, of all ages, and match their skills and interests to provide direct services to seniors and others in need and to support our community partners in Washington County and Jamestown. Volunteer at one or more of 50 plus Community Partners in a myriad of meaningful opportunities or internally at SRIV making a difference in some of the following ways:
  • Independent Aging Services Program: Transport assistance for homebound seniors or disabled adults to healthcare appointments, pharmacies, grocery stores and housing appointments; Delivery of food Meals on Wheels and/or farmers’ markets (or placement at a food pantry); Grocery shopping and delivery for a senior client; Companionship/visitation for a home bound older senior and/or respite care for their full-time caregiver; Minor home repairs (very minor—larger jobs are referred to partner agencies), fall clean ups and snow removal for walkways for senior safety.

Services that support independent living and aging for those 60 years of age and over. Washington County Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP-55 plus yrs of age)-Recruitment, training, support and deployment of volunteers through meaningful service opportunities assisting individuals, non-profits and our communities. Community Volunteers Program (individuals 13 to 54 yrs of age)-recruitment, training, support and deployment of volunteers through meaningful service opportunities assisting individuals, non profits and our communities. SRIV Disaster Preparedness and Response Team- SRIV volunteers 13 plus years of age helping during community disasters, crisis and other needs as determined by local emergency management directors. SRIV offers opportunities for our members to use their skills, talents and time to benefit individuals in need and to benefit the greater community. Villa Excelsior Apartments have Section 8 contract rents – you must go to the office to fill out these applications in order to get on the wait lists. But we have a few apartments that are Low Income Housing Tax Credit Apartments with no rental subsidy. These units (1 & 2 br) are on West Ave in Pawtucket and (2br & 3br) are on Gilmore & Bridgham Streets in Providence. There are no other locations. They have fenced yards and 24 hour emergency maintenance services. No pets allowed. Rents start at $590 with no utilities included. You must have a minimum income of $1,900 per month in order to apply.
