A division of Thrive Behavioral Health, Kent County Housing Services assists individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, rent burdened clients of Thrive, and Rhode Island residents who are disabled. This program provides services to extremely low-income disabled individuals and families throughout Rhode Island. For adolescent girls, 13-17. Provides individual, group and family counseling in a long-term residential treatment program for women in recovery from chemical dependency. Daily living in a family atmosphere develops a sense of normalcy and belonging in a non-threatening, supportive, educative and chemically free environment. The program places a strong emphasis on the Twelve Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Assertiveness training as well as physical and recreational activities are designed to improve health and appearance. Special emphasis is placed on helping each woman develop positive feelings of self-worth that will support the ultimate goal of sobriety. A relapse prevention specialist provides residential and outpatient relapse prevention services. Eastman House also offers a continuing after care program. Lawn School is a public school for students in grades 5-8. Jamestown School Department provides a rigorous, standards based curriculum with a balanced literacy program, real-world mathematics, hands-on science and civics education preparing students for 21st century learning. The UCP Rhode Island Children & Family Services program provides services to children with disabilities and their families under Rhode Island�s Home Based Therapeutic Services Program (HBTS). Medicaid eligible children (up to age 21) are provided comprehensive periodic evaluations to supplement the treatment of various medical conditions. Works with families to develop service plans for their children and assists the families to secure HBTS funding. Once a plan is approved, UCPRI provides case management and services, therapies, and training for the child and family. The object is to apply individualized services that permit the child to live at home and take an active part in school and community. UCPRI�s services may help relieve some of the financial strains that make raising a child with disabilities so stressful to both the family and child. Other Children & Family Services:

• CAP (Community Activities Project) provides financial support enabling children with disabilities to participate in community and recreational activities.

Provides information, referral and advocacy to families with children who have special needs. UCPRI will assist families in identifying their needs (home health care, learning, recreation) and work with them to secure funding. Adult Education: UCP Rhode Island�s Adult Education Community Classrooms meet throughout RI. Instruction is individualized, based on the personal learning goals of each student. Most classes meet for 3 hours a week for 12 weeks. Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Feeding and Nutrition Program provides food vouchers, allowing them to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, juice and iron fortified cereals and formula. The WIC coordinator provides nutrition education and counseling to all program participants on a monthly basis.

Some healthcare providers may charge patients small fees for vaccine administration, Rhode Island gives these vaccines to healthcare providers free of charge.

Caregiver Homes of Rhode Island’s community-based program helps families provide high-quality, 24-hour care for elders at home. They help make it possible for a family member or friend to become the primary in-home caregiver by providing them with the support and financial assistance they need. The Structured Family Caregiving model is known as RIte @ Home.

Therapy through expressive arts such as drama can assist individuals with mental illness and emotional distress. The activities offered will be held to reflect the inner state of the client. Their approach is to provide activities to accommodate each unique individual they serve through the arts. Some of the art programs under development are: music, movement, drama, horticulture, culinary, journaling, mindfulness, farm animal therapy equine therapy, and prayer therapy.

Community Living of Rhode Island provides opportunities for growth and supports for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
