Congress created the Medicare program, which began in 1965. The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services or CMS administers the Medicare program. Medicare was not designed to pay 100% of all medical bills of the member. When someone qualifies for Medicare the enrollment process starts automatically (on a case by case basis) by Social Security Administration in connection with CMS. If this does not happens automatically, the individual can get enrolled by contacting Social Security Administration directly to start the process.
Medicare consists of four parts. These parts are called Part A known as hospital insurance, Part B which is the Medical insurance, Part C known as Medicare Advantage, and Part D a stand-alone prescription drug coverage. Medicare members have the option of choosing a non-Medicare plan which is known as a Supplemental Insurance, often called Medigap.
You can meet with them for an unbiased session of counseling and learn about all of your options to make an informative decision.
