Grief and bereavement support groups are held at various times and locations throughout the year to support individuals and families who have lost a loved one. Coming together with others to share similar feelings and thoughts is beneficial to the grieving process. The support groups are a 6-session series led by the hospice chaplain, who teaches healing and coping strategies. Other programs offered for families and friends who have lost a loved one include: Circle of Love and Light held in the first week of December. Annual Interfaith Service, held each spring.

The 9 Yards program provides long term, comprehensive services to small groups of individuals getting out of prison. The program provides a variety of classes and support in prison, followed by transitional housing, case management, and employment coaching. The program has been proven to reduce recidivism by more than 50%. Reentry Case Management program works with participants up to six months prior to release from prison. OpenDoors is contracted through the Rhode Island Department of Corrections (DOC) to provide discharge plans to inmates in the Men's Minimum Security Facility at the DOC. This is done in both individual and group formats in an attempt to reach as many as possible of the over 1,200 discharges per year from that facility. Individual 14-point plans addressing different life-areas are established for clients with longer sentences, while comprehensive written information on available services is provided to group participants who typically have short sentences. All clients are encouraged to follow up with the resource center. Walk-in resource center, accepts drop-in visits from any formerly incarcerated person. We maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive file of resources in major life areas such as housing, employment, education, medical, mental health, substance abuse, and transportation. Clients can use our telephone or computer lab to communicate with employers, family members, and probation or parole officers. Our resource center has a full schedule of programming, ranging from job readiness to financial literacy to support groups. We can also serve as a temporary address. Spaying: We sponsor several low-cost spaying/neutering clinics annually; Pet Adoption: Our program is an alternative to local dog pounds and shelters. Defenders works with pet owners that need to find homes for their companion animals. Legal Assistance: Defenders of Animals has assisted individuals with legal research and assistance in obtaining an attorney. Rewards: Defenders offers rewards up to $2000 for information leading to the apprehension, conviction and sentencing of the person(s) guilty of crimes of cruelty. Advocacy: Defenders of Animals will advocate on behalf of stray, abandoned animals and wildlife and pet owners when it is appropriate.

Jamestown Fire Department provides Fire, Rescue, and EMS services to the Town of Jamestown, RI. The department and EMS Division are comprised entirely of volunteers, dedicated to serving their community, neighbors and friends.

The Center provides hearing testing for about 600 people each year as well as hearing aid assistance for several hundred clients. In addition, about 40 evaluations are conducted annually related to speech therapy needs and approximately 60 clients per year are seen for on-going therapeutic services. Services include (but are not limited to) diagnostic hearing tests, hearing aid evaluations and dispensation; aural rehabilitation; assessment of and treatment for voice, articulation, fluency, and language disorders; communication and cognitive therapy for adults with neurological disorders resulting from strokes or traumatic brain injuries; and programs to improve fluency for ESL clients.
