Hospital charity care requirements cover those essential services necessary to diagnose, correct, or cure a medical condition that endangers life, causes pain and suffering, results in illness or infirmity, or causes a physical deformity or malfunction. Both inpatient and outpatient services are included. To receive full charity care, patients annual family income must be up to and including 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. For partial charity care, patients annual family income must be between 200% and 300% of the Federal Poverty Level may receive assistance based on a sliding scale. In addition to income, hospitals have the option to consider other assets. Also must be denied from Medicaid first depending on income. You may be able to get extra help to pay for the monthly premiums, annual deductibles, and co-payments related to the Medicare Prescription Drug program. However, you must be enrolled in a Medicare Prescription Drug plan to get this extra help.

Solutions is a program of Family Service of Rhode Island that provides care coordination across a continuum of service providers involved with children and their families. This continuum includes medical, educational, mental health and other providers. In addition to care coordination, Solutions services include a global assessment of need, an action plan, assistance with referrals and linkages while providing ongoing support to ensure the best possible health and well-being outcomes.
