The Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL) works in collaboration with the Gift of Hearing Program at the University of Rhode Island (URI) Speech & Hearing Center to provide low cost hearing aids to those in need.

Services: Mental health services, substance abuse treatment and State certified Batterers Intervention Programs. Also have counseling and coaching for adolescents, individuals, families and couples. Staff includes marriage and family therapists, licensed chemical dependency professionals and a psychologist.

Services: Houses 29 families and 8 women daily. Shelter stays are limited to 90 days but can be renewed based on progress demonstrated by participants or impending permanent housing. Case managers assist participants with healthcare, employment and establishing permanent housing. Case managers access services directly through Family Resources Community Action Program or collaborative agreements with other local non profit organizations.

Visit an Express Care for treatment of: Colds, Influenza, Earaches, Sore throats, Migraines, Low-grade fevers, Minor rashes, Sprains, Back pain, Minor cuts and burns, Minor fractures, Minor eye injuries. Co-pays are expected at the time of visit. If you do require a higher level of care, you may be transported to an Emergency Department.

A comprehensive, State licensed adult day care program to provide medical, social and rehabilitative services to chronically impaired elders and disabled adults. Services include: nursing supervision, personal care, counseling, caregivers support/respite, exercises, activities, specialized therapies and nutrition. The Adult Day Services Program provides an array of supportive services designed to upgrade and increase the activities of daily living for older persons dependent upon continual family support and supervision. The major goal of the program is to reduce the potential for institutionalization of dependent elderly individuals otherwise at risk, and to increase their quality of life through the enhancement of their activities of daily living. The program provides supervised supportive care for frail elderly persons to meet the needs of the functionally impaired individual. The program also provides respite and emotional support to family caregivers. Income Source: Towns of South Kingstown, Narragansett, R I Department of Elderly Affairs, R.I. Department of Human Services, client fees and private contributions.

Bilingual Services. Social Services: Our social workers will be responsible for advising each family on what local and statewide resources are available to them. They will also help clients and the members of their family understand their current situation and give counseling and advice accordingly.
