Food Pantry

OSDRI manages a community supported food pantry and personal hygiene program for use by in-need veterans stocked with non perishables. The pantry is available for use by in-need veterans during normal business hours and is stocked with non-perishables. Veterans wanting to use the pantry must bring proof of veteran status before admittance. Personal Hygiene Program- Personal hygiene products, including soaps, body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, razors, and other items are stocked at the Food Pantry.

Tri-County Community Action Agency offers assistance with all aspects of essential needs and daily living, including food assistance. We welcome individuals to visit our food pantries once per month, and offer distribution of canned goods, pasta, grain, juice, peanut butter, rice and flour and other foods as contributed through the State of Rhode Island and purchased through the Rhode Island Food Bank. All three East Bay Community Action Pantries (Riverside, Tiverton, and Newport) now have freezers and can offer frozen veggies and meats. For home-bound clients, a proxy can come pick up food with client's ID For people with diabetes, more fresh/frozen produce available.

First time, come in front door. After that, entry is in back of building. Guest can only come once a month.

SOS Food Pantry; There is a food pantry located in the nurse’s office and is available for all families to use; all visits are confidential.

EBCAP’s Food Pantries offer monthly food distribution to assist food insecure households. Individuals/families in need of food assistance may come to one of EBCAP’s three food pantries twice a month. When you arrive, our staff will help you select food that you/your family will enjoy. The amount of food you receive is based on your family size. It is helpful (but not required) to bring with you re-useable bags. The program provides: -Nutritious supplemental food at no cost to participants -Assistance to people with special dietary needs -Family advocates who assess additional needs of individuals/families and connect participants to other EBCAP community resources

Project Hope/Proyecto Esperanza provides the following service programs: Emergency assistance of basic necessities such as utilities, prescriptions, rental/eviction prevention as well as referral services to local and state agencies Application processing for Bishop Tobin’s Keep The Heat On fund Immigration & Refugee Services Translation services Citizenship classes English as a Second Language classes Income Tax preparation and IRS VITA Filing program for low-income households with special emphasis on promoting the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and the ARRA Economic Stimulus Package Thanksgiving baskets for families through donations from private donors Christmas gifts for families through donations from neighboring parishes Outreach and applications for the Diocesan sponsored programs such as the Cabrini Child Care Scholarship Fund and Elder Care Respite Services Work with local college and university students to promote community service Internship site for students exploring career paths Back-to-school supplies for children returning to school in the fall Conduct the Annual Good Friday Walk to benefit the Dire Emergency Programs at Project Hope Site location for the Gabriel Project that provides services to new and expectant mothers Site location of the St. Mathias Ministry that reaches out to individuals struggling with substance abuse by providing coaching and one-on-one support as well as faith-based support from priests when needed The Project Hope/Proyecto Esperanza National Grid Program: This program assists clients with funding to sustain their payments after other available assistance ceases. Clients receive weatherization assistance, participate in an energy efficiency class, and enroll in our Family Futures Financial Literacy Program. The Family Futures Financial Literacy Program: a six-week course with weekly one-hour sessions covering basic budgeting, basic banking, traps/pay day lenders, debt management, job training, and understanding utilities bills. In addition to the basic curriculum, participants also receive one-on-one mentoring from a financial coach. The Family Futures Financial Literacy Program is recommended to all clients who participate in our programs. Weekly office hours for SNAP outreach workers who assist clients with completion of SNAP (Food Stamp) applications.

Overnight shelter, dental services, food pantry, clothing room, and meal programs. **Overnight Shelter Provides emergency, overnight shelter for 75 to 90 homeless men and 15 to 30 homeless women, seven nights a week. Each overnight guest has the ability to take a hot shower, eat a hot dinner, sleep in a clean bed, and have breakfast in the morning. **Food & Clothing We operate an emergency food pantry and a clothing room. Individuals and families use these services on a daily basis. We distribute approximately 16,000 lbs. of food and 5,000 articles of clothing each month. **Meal Programs Our meal programs provide approximately 6,000 hot meals a month to the needy in our community as well as 1,700 box lunches to the children. In addition to our feeding ministry, we do special events during the holidays. This past Thanksgiving we provided Thanksgiving food boxes for 1,600 families in the Providence area. Each box contained 20 pounds of non-perishable food and a 20 pound turkey. At Christmastime, we provided 9,300 gifts to over 3,100 needy families through our Christmas Toy Ministry. **Dental Offices In a phrase - state-of-the-art. The Providence Rescue Mission features a full service dental office that helps Individuals start a new life with a smile they can proud of. Our office features x-ray, full cleaning, and other dental services. Local dentists and staff see patients by appointment only. **Discipleship Program We run a one-year discipleship program that allows 10 to 15 homeless men with, but not limited to, substance abuse issues to start a new life by combining biblical values, counseling, education and career training and reunification with their families. This program is at capacity most of the time.

Based out of West Warwick Rhode Island, they are a food supplemental program that helps 1000's of families and seniors in the community put food on there table so they do not have to choose between paying bills and eating.

The Exeter Emergency Food Bank (501c3) is separate from the Social Services Dept. However, because it is staffed by volunteers, anyone needing assistance is asked to call the Social Services department to schedule a time to pick up food. Appointments are made for Wednesday mornings beginning at 9 am or Wednesday afternoons. Emergency situations will open the food bank as needed. Donations to the Food Bank can be dropped off at Town Hall or at the Exeter Public Library.

Food will be provided to people from anywhere in RI who walk in on an emergency basis. Pantry is located in the 2nd small white house on the right, before the bus terminal.

The Louis & Goldie Chester Full Plate Kosher Food Pantry helps eliminate the strain on community members who need help putting kosher food on the table. Operated by JCS, the Kosher Food Pantry provides kosher food and other essentials to hundreds of individuals and families in greater RI The food pantry distributes kosher chicken, produce, and a wide range of nonperishable foods, along with personal care items.

Emergency Food Pantry Outreach Services are offered to the senior (60+) and disabled adult population of Scituate to assist with applications for financial and benefit assistance, including SNAP (Food Stamps), Fuel Assistance, Housing, and Medical Insurance, as well as information or referral to Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry.
