Senior Services Inc. has an adult day care program, “A Home for the Day.” This program is available to provide a safe place for you or your loved one to socialize with peers in a supervised, supportive and caring environment. There are also dance and fitness programs.

Programs that provide care and supervision in a protective setting for dependent adults living in the community during some portion of a 24-hour day. Services may include social and recreational activities, training that is essential for sustaining activities of daily living, hot meals, as appropriate and, if an adult day health care center, health and related services.

The ReFocus Community Center at 45 Greeley St, Providence, offers our younger and more active folks a variety of educational programs and activities at our three-floor, 20,000 sq. ft. Center and through field trips in the community.

Adult Day Health Care Program is for adults with chronic health conditions and medical or physical limitations. Provides a combination of social activities, health care and rehabilitation services, and personal care. Participants attend on a set schedule from two to five days a week based on availability.

Adult day program for the elderly and disabled that offers a six week health education program called Take Control of Your Health. Nutritional meal provided at noon and two daily snacks, senior advocacy program, daily fitness program, leisure activities, RIDE program for transportation, and a social worker on staff. Individuals with diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, memory loss are especially encouraged to attend the Center because their program is specifically designed for these health conditions.

Services: The department is comprised of six divisions designed to inform, entertain and enrich the lives of those who participate : ** Adult Day Services--Professionally designed programs to meet the needs of frail individuals with physical and/or cognitive impairments. Professional staff consists of registered nurses, a case manager, physical therapy assistant and certified nursing assistants. Therapeutic programs include music, art, physical, occupational, speech, aroma, pet therapy. Recreational activities include crafts, painting, exercise, gardening, Tai Chi and Yoga for elders. Intergenerational programs with local schools provide enrichment opportunities for both young and old alike. Support and Referral Services for each participant and their families, coordination with physicians and other service providers. Cost is based on a sliding fee scale. Licensed by the RI Department of Elderly Affairs. **Nutrition--Provides hot, nutritious, homemade lunches served at 11:45am, Monday through Friday. Snack bar with freshly baked goods, soups and much more. Night Life--Dinners, Thursday at 5pm in the Spring and Fall. **Programs--Offers activities that enable seniors to expand their horizons, enrich their lives and pursue a variety of interests. Our programs promote wellness, health maintenance, personal dignity and self worth. Individual needs, interests, skills and abilities are addressed through a variety of stimulating educational, social and health activities to improve the quality of life. **Retired Senior Volunteer Program--Allows anyone 55+ years of age the opportunity to help make the community a better place to live by sharing themselves with others. Participants gain personal satisfaction by serving at a public or non-profit agency. They also have fun by participating in interesting and rewarding experiences. Seniors serve from one to 40 hours a week; RSVP provides guidance and support, transportation, meals and insurance for all volunteers. Social Services--A caring staff of professional case managers and a Community Elder Information Specialist is available to provide support and counseling to seniors and their families, provide access to a network of service providers throughout the city and state, assist with the many available services, offer comfort and compassion, visit homebound seniors to assess and case manage, coordinate Support Groups such as Widow/Widower; Arthritis; Reminiscence. Our staff is available to speak to your community organization on a wide variety of issues. ** Transvan, (401) 943-3341--You don't have to be dependent on your family. Transvan, our daily transportation system for 60+ and/or disabled Cranston residents is available to provide transportation anywhere in Cranston, Monday through Friday. Provides shuttles to nearby malls and local markets. Provides transportation to doctors, nursing homes and hospitals in Providence, North Providence, Johnston and Warwick by appointment.

New Horizons Adult Day Center provides disabled adults and seniors a variety of medical services onsite, including: nutritional support, transportation, medical management, personal care assistance, and daily therapeutic programming. Saint Elizabeth Adult Day Centers helps families keep their loved ones at home by providing a wide array of supportive services during the day within a secure and nurturing environment.

Provides comprehensive day programming for functionally and or cognitively impaired adults. Services include therapeutic activity, health monitoring & medication administration by a registered nurse, case management and assistance with ADL's (activities of daily living) by certified nursing assistants, rehab services such as physical/occupational/speech therapy, and respite care and family consultation Breakfast, lunch an afternoon snack are provided. Also offers a caregivers support group the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 7:00PM - 8:30PM.

Services: Provides therapeutic day services to victims of Alzheimer's Disease or a related dementia as well as education, support and advocacy for family caregivers. The Center is a safe, secure and happy "home away from home" where participants are encouraged to be optimally independent, but where assistance is always close at hand. Services include but are not limited to multidisciplinary care planning and case management, information and referral, nursing and personal care, nutritional services, therapeutic activities, and assistance in accessing transportation, financial assistance, and other health and enabling services. Through collaborative, contractual and cooperative agreements, the Center is able to enhance core services with physical, occupational and speech therapies; hospice care; podiatry; hair care and a variety of special programs. The staff team includes registered and licensed practical nurses, case managers, certified nursing assistants and activity professionals who create individualized plans of care for each client.

Visiting Nurse: VNS Home Health Services provides a visiting nurse to the Center who will meet individually at no cost with senior citizens to discuss current health problems, to take blood pressures, and to offer basic advice. The visiting nurse is at the Senior Center every fourth Tuesday of each month from 9:30am to 1:30pm. Appointments are made on a first come first served basis. URI Pharmacy Mini Clinic- The University of Rhode Island Mini Clinic is held on the fourth Monday of the month from 11am to noon. You may have blood pressure checked or review medications. SPECIAL PROGRAMS: Medical Equipment Donations: Accepted at the Center to assist others who may need items such as: wheelchairs, bedside commodes, toilet seats, shower chairs, transport chairs and adult underwear, walkers, etc. Should you need medical equipment or adult underwear, please call the center so we can fill out a slip for the item(s). We fill orders on a daily basis as the needed item are received based on a first come first served basis Health Insurance: The Senior Center allows representatives from various health insurance programs to make presentations and offer information on their respective programs at the Center on a continual basis. The Senior Center does not endorse any particular plan but does provide the space and opportunity for these programs so that you, the consumer, can make an educated choice based on the information you may be seeking. Adult Day Health program, held at The Willows at Grace Barker, offers an opportunity for people to enjoy an active, social day with accommodations for their needs. Participants spend the day at The Willows, where activities including, reading or watching a movie are offered.

A comprehensive, State licensed adult day care program to provide medical, social and rehabilitative services to chronically impaired elders and disabled adults. Services include: nursing supervision, personal care, counseling, caregivers support/respite, exercises, activities, specialized therapies and nutrition. The Adult Day Services Program provides an array of supportive services designed to upgrade and increase the activities of daily living for older persons dependent upon continual family support and supervision. The major goal of the program is to reduce the potential for institutionalization of dependent elderly individuals otherwise at risk, and to increase their quality of life through the enhancement of their activities of daily living. The program provides supervised supportive care for frail elderly persons to meet the needs of the functionally impaired individual. The program also provides respite and emotional support to family caregivers. Income Source: Towns of South Kingstown, Narragansett, R I Department of Elderly Affairs, R.I. Department of Human Services, client fees and private contributions.

Day Program - a service program designed to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities including autism behavioral and emotional disabilities. Access to vocational, social and communications skill programs allow clients to reach their greatest level of independence, productivity, empowerment and community access. Stepping Out � a non-profit organization formed to provide social, educational, and cultural activities for young adults with special needs. Residential Program � provides a variety of residential accommodations for adults with developmental disabilities and special needs. To respond to the needs of adults with developmental disabilities, autism, emotional disorders and other challenging behaviors to help them reach their greatest level of independence, productivity and integration.
