Services: Provides therapeutic day services to victims of Alzheimer's Disease or a related dementia as well as education, support and advocacy for family caregivers. The Center is a safe, secure and happy "home away from home" where participants are encouraged to be optimally independent, but where assistance is always close at hand. Services include but are not limited to multidisciplinary care planning and case management, information and referral, nursing and personal care, nutritional services, therapeutic activities, and assistance in accessing transportation, financial assistance, and other health and enabling services. Through collaborative, contractual and cooperative agreements, the Center is able to enhance core services with physical, occupational and speech therapies; hospice care; podiatry; hair care and a variety of special programs. The staff team includes registered and licensed practical nurses, case managers, certified nursing assistants and activity professionals who create individualized plans of care for each client.

Adult day program for the elderly and disabled that offers a six week health education program called Take Control of Your Health. Nutritional meal provided at noon and two daily snacks, senior advocacy program, daily fitness program, leisure activities, RIDE program for transportation, and a social worker on staff. Individuals with diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, memory loss are especially encouraged to attend the Center because their program is specifically designed for these health conditions.

Senior Services Inc. has an adult day care program, “A Home for the Day.” This program is available to provide a safe place for you or your loved one to socialize with peers in a supervised, supportive and caring environment. There are also dance and fitness programs.

Programs that provide care and supervision in a protective setting for dependent adults living in the community during some portion of a 24-hour day. Services may include social and recreational activities, training that is essential for sustaining activities of daily living, hot meals, as appropriate and, if an adult day health care center, health and related services.

New Horizons Adult Day Center provides disabled adults and seniors a variety of medical services onsite, including: nutritional support, transportation, medical management, personal care assistance, and daily therapeutic programming. Day program for medically compromised seniors and disabled adults who require a high skill level of medical assistance, but are seeking an alternative to long-term care placement.

Resources for Human Development-RI helps adults with developmental disabilities reach their goals. With a strong focus on the arts, RHD works with its Participants to develop new skills, become more integrated in the local community and explore a variety of employment opportunities. RHD also contracts directly with a number of school departments around the state to provide supports for students too young for adult services.

The Fogarty Center provides a variety of Employment & Day Supports to many of the people from its residential and other community settings. The Fogarty Center offers individual Person-Centered services for job seekers with intellectual/developmental disabilities by offering a comprehensive progression of employment-related services. These services include; Discovery, Career Exploration, Job Trial/Assessment, Placement, Job Coaching and Monitoring. The Fogarty Center also supports adults by planning meaningful activities throughout the day, based on personal preference, within a variety of settings including day programs as well as locations within the community. Day services are provided on an individual 1:1 basis and/or group settings.

Generations is a day facility providing services to meet the needs of adults with disabilities and the elderly. The Mission of Generations is to provide an array of services/supports responsive to the needs of participants and the personalized goals and objectives within their individual Plans. The focus is to inspire and support each person to make individual choices to increase their independence, build their self-esteem, maintain good health, learn new skills and to live a meaningful and productive life. Program includes: Transportation to and from the facility; Complimentary coffee, oatmeal, freshly made muffins for breakfast; Goal-oriented activities to increase socialization, cognitive stimulation and therapeutic physical movement; Nursing services including blood pressure monitoring, glucose monitoring, wellness care, medication administration; Hot lunch served daily prepared by personal chef and baker; Day trips; Movie theatre; Salon services; Holiday celebrations

Services: Thirteen senior meal sites in northern Rhode Island serve a weekday lunch geared to the nutrition requirements of people over 60 (reservations required). Weekday day care for frail seniors and disabled; information and referral including assistance with health insurance, fuel assistance, tax abatements and enrollment in benefit programs. The ReFocus Community Center at 1228 Westminster St., Providence, is designed for our folks, older and younger, who are more comfortable in a smaller, slower-paced atmosphere. RCC-1228 offers these folks an array of educational programs and activities suited to their interests, needs and abilities.

Care is provided in the privacy of our nurse’s clinic. Our facilities are staffed with the most qualified Registered and/or Licensed nurses in the field. Visiting Nurse: VNS Home Health Services provides a visiting nurse to the Center who will meet individually at no cost with senior citizens to discuss current health problems, to take blood pressures, and to offer basic advice. The visiting nurse is at the Senior Center every fourth Tuesday of each month from 9:30am to 1:30pm. Appointments are made on a first come first served basis. URI Pharmacy Mini Clinic- The University of Rhode Island Mini Clinic is held on the fourth Monday of the month from 11am to noon. You may have blood pressure checked or review medications. SPECIAL PROGRAMS: Medical Equipment Donations: Accepted at the Center to assist others who may need items such as: wheelchairs, bedside commodes, toilet seats, shower chairs, transport chairs and adult underwear, walkers, etc. Should you need medical equipment or adult underwear, please call the center so we can fill out a slip for the item(s). We fill orders on a daily basis as the needed item are received based on a first come first served basis Health Insurance: The Senior Center allows representatives from various health insurance programs to make presentations and offer information on their respective programs at the Center on a continual basis. The Senior Center does not endorse any particular plan but does provide the space and opportunity for these programs so that you, the consumer, can make an educated choice based on the information you may be seeking.
