@Home Cost Share: For older adults with care needs, the @Home Cost-Share program is available to help with some care expenses. Eligible participants can access in-home services – such as help with housekeeping, meal preparation or personal care – and/or community-based programming at adult day health centers at a reduced rate. You may be eligible for the program if you are age 65 or older, meet income guidelines, and need some assistance in the home with your personal or health care.

volunteers are people age 55 and older who provide companionship for frail older adults in the home, at day centers, or other community sites. Companions assist with daily tasks, helping those served to remain living in the community for longer. Companions may provide transportation to medical appointments, shopping assistance, meal preparation, and advocacy. They also provide respite to caregivers of frail elders. By remaining active and contributing to their communities, Companions benefit from the program along with the clients they serve.

DEA Protective Services Unit is responsible for investigating complaints of elderly abuse of Rhode Islanders 60 and older by a family member, caregiver or person with duty of care.. Abuse may include physical, emotional, sexual, financial exploitation, or abandonment.
The DEA Protective Services Unit develops a care plan to prevent additional abuse and address the elder’s social service needs.
Self-Neglect occurs when a person is no longer able to care for himself/herself. Reports of self-neglect are also made to the DEA Protective Services Unit. The senior’s needs are assessed and necessary services are 0ffered.

The Stroke Specialty Rehabilitation Program, a CARF recognized program, provides adults needing therapy to improve their function and quality of life. Our patients have been diagnosed with cerebral vascular accidents (CVA), intracranial hemorrhages, and thrombo/embolic strokes.
Neurorehabilitation
This program treats patients with diagnoses such as brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis. The UCP Rhode Island Children & Family Services program provides services to children with disabilities and their families under Rhode Island�s Home Based Therapeutic Services Program (HBTS). Medicaid eligible children (up to age 21) are provided comprehensive periodic evaluations to supplement the treatment of various medical conditions. Works with families to develop service plans for their children and assists the families to secure HBTS funding. Once a plan is approved, UCPRI provides case management and services, therapies, and training for the child and family.
The object is to apply individualized services that permit the child to live at home and take an active part in school and community. UCPRI�s services may help relieve some of the financial strains that make raising a child with disabilities so stressful to both the family and child.

The ASU, as we call it, provides short term, residential services for the person who is having a mental health and/or substance abuse emergency, but who does not need hospitalization. Referrals are made through our Emergency Services Team, hospitals and other sources.

VSA arts Rhode Island provides poetry workshops for adults developmental disabilities, conducted by professional poets, at a variety of community sites throughout Rhode Island. A statewide poetry competition is sponsored annually with Blackstone Valley RI ARC. The first place recipient is given the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Prize. Additionally, VSA arts works with Rhode Island poets to participate in the International “One Heart, One World” Exhibition and other national poetry events.

The Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Unit investigates and mediates consumer complaints concerning unfair and unlawful business practices and misleading advertising arising out of alleged violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act. If groups of people are victimized by a deceptive trade practice, this office may file in the Superior Court a civil investigative demand, which is a formal investigation. In appropriate cases, a lawsuit to stop the illegal business practice may be initiated.
Apart from carrying out its statutory responsibilities, the Unit also provides information and referral services to the general public. Consumers are directed to the appropriate governmental or private agencies for help in answering specialized questions or resolving disputes that are not within the Unit's jurisdiction.
