Treatment Once treatment begins, children with cancer face ongoing transitions from induction to maintenance, from one protocol to the next and from active treatment to survivorship. Transition happens every day and yet, we are not always prepared for the next step. Throughout all of these transitions, The Tomorrow Fund continuously provides education and programs to support the child and the family.

Operation First Step provides a higher level of case management, support and dignity than most night-to-night shelters. �Youth R.A.P.�- meets once a week and provides our youth with a variety of educational, social and skill building opportunities. Our goal is to provide youth with personal development, leadership opportunity, job-readiness skills, academic achievement and creative recreational opportunities on and off-site. �Life Skills�- meets once a week and gathers all the residents from our varied programs together. Led by our qualified staff, residents meet in a group setting and topics discussed include such things as depression, budgeting, time management, parenting, personal care and stress management. Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship The Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship supports the philosophy and spirit of OSCIL by facilitating access to education for persons having disability. PLEASE NOTE, ONLY RHODE ISLAND RESIDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP. The Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship was established in 1995 by Catherine Murray, a long-time educator and also a board member and valued volunteer at the Ocean State Center for Independent Living. It was her wish to support the philosophy and spirit of OSCIL through a scholarship that gives people with disability access to higher education. Grants of $1000+ are awarded to help students with a disability to continue their education past high school. Scholarship funds can be used for educational expenses such as tuition or the purchase of textbooks. They may also be used to obtain assistive/adaptive equipment or devices that aid the student in meeting their educational goals. To qualify for this scholarship applicants must: -have a significant disability -be a Rhode Island resident (Your home address MUST be in RI) -plan to attend a college, technical school, or a trade/vocational program in the upcoming academic year Preference is based on career goals, merit, and economic need.

The Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Unit investigates and mediates consumer complaints concerning unfair and unlawful business practices and misleading advertising arising out of alleged violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act. If groups of people are victimized by a deceptive trade practice, this office may file in the Superior Court a civil investigative demand, which is a formal investigation. In appropriate cases, a lawsuit to stop the illegal business practice may be initiated. Apart from carrying out its statutory responsibilities, the Unit also provides information and referral services to the general public. Consumers are directed to the appropriate governmental or private agencies for help in answering specialized questions or resolving disputes that are not within the Unit's jurisdiction.

Emergency Shelter. This new program exclusively serves unhoused individuals over 55, and is located in the same facility as Amos House's Emergency Family Shelter for individuals ages 55 and up This program provides emergency and stabilizing wrap-around services to 40 individuals. These services include: daily meals, case management, housing location, medical coordination, behavioral health support and more. Street Outreach Program: Outreach Team works with unsheltered individuals who are at risk for violence, providing them with vital supplies, harm reduction materials, case management, and access to housing and recovery services. Housing Assistance: including help covering utility bills, rental assistance, and other costs associated with securing housing. Funds are limited for this program. Hygiene Packets: Each year, Amos House distributes more than 15,000 individual hygiene packets to men, women, and families. IDs and Birth Certificates: Case Managers help those in need cover the fees and navigate the process to obtain an ID or Birth Certificate. A Hand Up: A day labor program for individuals who are panhandling or at risk of panhandling, AHU offers cash payment for daily work and connects them to supportive services intended to help them access other options and greater opportunities.
