Everyone experiences tough times. Having help when you need it is the key to facing these challenges. Community Care Alliance strives to empower people experiencing economic insecurity, mental illness and addiction, housing issues, and trauma-related concerns.

Programs that are designed to increase public awareness of the measures that people can take to protect homes, businesses and property from the threat of fire. Fire prevention programs provide information about faulty wiring and other electrical hazards, kitchen fires, smoking risks, child-related fire safety, flammable materials storage, brush clearance, fire retardant building materials and ground cover, techniques for fighting a fire until the fire agency arrives (first aid firefighting) and other similar topics. Included are programs that inspect the homes of individual citizens and give them a report which recommends ways to protect their property as well as those that deal with fire safety in a more general way.

Strives to increase public awareness of pathological gambling, ensure the widespread availability of treatment for problem gamblers and their families, and to encourage research and programs for prevention and education. Website offers information and referral resources, online counselor search, frequently asked questions, self assessment tools, state by state help, directories of counselors and treatment centers, as well as literature, prevention and education tools, and first person stories of problem gambling and recovery.

Programs within the formal criminal justice system that provide facilities for the detention of people who have been charged with a crime and are awaiting trial, and/or the confinement, treatment, employment, training and discipline of people who have been sentenced to imprisonment after conviction for a criminal offense.

Grace Barker Health’s short-term rehabilitation program provides a comfortable recuperation setting at The Cove for those who are recovering from a hospitalization or a health event.

The Parents as Teachers Program (PAT) is a free home based program that supports parents by teaching them the skills they need to teach their children and enhance their development and also supports families with monthly community activities and family events. Animal Control and Shelter

Services: Provides educational and training information for post secondary education, financial aid and admissions information, application assistance in plus career counseling and assessment, referral to other social services and advocacy. Services: Non profit agency providing both clinical and support services since 1975 to persons recovering from mental illness and co-occuring disorders to improve their mental health, well being and quality of life. Tri-County Community Action Agency offers assistance with all aspects of essential needs and daily living, including food assistance. We welcome individuals to visit our food pantries once per month, and offer distribution of canned goods, pasta, grain, juice, peanut butter, rice and flour and other foods as contributed through the State of Rhode Island and purchased through the Rhode Island Food Bank. Urgent Care

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Feeding and Nutrition Program provides food vouchers allowing them to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, juice and iron fortified cereals and formula. The WIC coordinator provides nutrition education and counseling to all program participants on a monthly basis. A pregnancy resource center that offers support to women and men facing unplanned pregnancies. Offers options counseling, 1st trimester ultrasound, parenting classes, childbirth education and material support. Also offers post abortion support. All services are free and confidential. The Homeless Legal Clinic (HLC) was established in the Spring of 1990 in an effort to address the legal needs of homeless people in Rhode Island. The HLC relies on volunteers to provide legal services to the homeless without charge. The objective of the HLC is to serve in an outreach capacity by seeking out homeless and at risk clients at RI shelters. The HLC can provide direct legal services to those who cannot afford an attorney or may be unable to travel to a legal assistance office, are unaware such services exist or may be apprehensive about visiting a lawyer's office. The services now are being held at Harrington Hall and Crossroads only. The clinics are staffed by Attorney, Phillip Weistein and Attorney Dena Paolino, volunteer law students, and shelter liaisons.

Christmas 2021: Volunteers will prepare and deliver Christmas meals to any Cranston Senior 60+ who will be alone for the holiday. Registration Deadline: December 10, 2021

D'Evan Manor is a 127 unit, subsidized housing complex 62+, handicapped or disabled complex.

THE SCITUATE ANIMAL SHELTER is a municipal facility under the supervision of Scituate Animal Control, a division of the Scituate, Rhode Island Police Department. They take in animals from Scituate and Foster and provide care until we can find good homes for them. They also socialize all cats and dogs who need such work in order to be ready for life in a home and with a family. The shelter staff and the volunteers will go to great lengths to find homes for all animals that we have at the shelter.
