A collaborative group of local comprehensive and specialized information and referral providers who have agreed to coordinate information and referral service delivery to provide seamless access to information about community resources via the three digit number assigned for this purpose, 211. Depending on the size and nature of the community, 211 systems may consist of only a few organizations that provide information and referral or may include a diverse array of organizations that furnish some type of I&R. Some of these organizations may supply a very specialized type of I&R service (e.g., for people with disabilities or older adults), while others may provide a comprehensive range of assistance. The coordination of all I&R services and programs within a community and, where relevant, beyond, constitutes the 211 system.

Weatherization improves the energy efficiency of homes and apartments. The Weatherization crew checks for energy use, insulation, air leaks, and safety hazards. Then they perform cost-effective improvements, such as installing insulation, smoke detectors, or caulking. Appliance Management Program (AMP) AMP helps clients use less electricity and water. The program provides energy-saving lightbulbs, faucet aerators, and appliances. AMP is funded by National Grid. Heating System Replacement Program The Heating System Replacement Program repairs or replaces old, broken, or inefficient home heating systems. This program is available for owner-occupied buildings only.

Richmond Animal Control Division handles approximately 75 calls-for-service per month, which often vary from noise complaints to animal "at large" violations, to animal bite complaints, and several other enforcement related duties. Complaints and calls concerning domesticated animals are received at Richmond Police Department, which serves as dispatch for Animal Control. Non-emergency calls received after-hours are referred to the next Animal Control Officer to return to duty. The Animal Control Division also provides temporary shelter, feeding, care and medical treatment for impounded animals, and routinely facilitated adoptions to place abandoned, neglected, or unwanted animals in the care of willing and capable pet owners who are eager to provide the pet a safe and nurturing home environment.

Pawtucket Fire Department operates out of five fire stations with an engine out of each; truck apparatus and rescue ambulance units in stations 2 and 4. Blackstone Valley Community health Care (BVCHC) has established a program that reduces fees charged to patients based on their income and family size. The categories used are based on percentages of “Poverty Level” as annually determined by the federal government. Qualifying patients will pay a nominal fee if they qualify for 100% of poverty. Patients between 101% and 200% will pay an amount depending on their family size and percentage of poverty. Every program has requirements and BVCHC’s Sliding Fee Program is no different.

Resources for Human Development-RI helps adults with developmental disabilities reach their goals. With a strong focus on the arts, RHD works with its Participants to develop new skills, become more integrated in the local community and explore a variety of employment opportunities. RHD also contracts directly with a number of school departments around the state to provide supports for students too young for adult services.

Home Care Services of Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice is intermittent care – care provided several times a week or less for a short period of time – that requires special skills not ordinarily carried out by a lay person.

Peer support in a non-structured environment where mental health consumers can stop by to relax, socialize and help develop whatever services and programs they want. Activities run as members feel appropriate. Mental health referral services available. The Oasis Advocacy & Social Center is consumer-run.

While most infectious diseases last a short amount of time they can be quite serious, and sometimes fatal.
