Avatar is a certified Placement Agency for Shared Living programs throughout Rhode Island. Avatar Residential was one of the first agencies in Rhode Island to provide Shared Living Arrangements (SLAs) as an alternative to group home living. The key to success is a strong relationship between residents and Shared Living Providers. Avatar coordinates 27 SLAs throughout the state of RI. Some of the people that Avatar supports have found a good fit in their apartment/independent living programs. They tailor services to what people need (shopping, budgeting, recreation) while also fostering a great deal of independence and self-sufficiency. Avatar also provides residential services to people who live at home with their families.

The mission of the Center for Southeast Asians (CSEA) is to promote the prosperity, heritage and leadership of Southeast Asians in Rhode Island They assist new Americans in the areas of social and economic independence and creating greater access to education and healthcare services. They can provide: translator services; free tax preparation; interpreting services, job training, English/ESL classes, health insurance navigation; tobacco and substance abuse information; and more. SEDC's social service programs include: Affordable Care Act (ACA), Meal Café, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program); Southeast Asian Elder Advancement Program; assistance with transitional housing management; and case management. A Brown University affiliated psychiatric center providing care for infants, children, adolescents, young adults and their families. Services include a full range of mental health and special educational programs for children with emotional and/or developmental disabilities. Bradley School integrates individual and family therapy and other mental health services with its educational services to treat the behavioral and emotional issues affecting the child's learning. Services include comprehensive and short-term diagnostic evaluations, accredited special education school, summer camp and on-site school counseling. The Northern Rhode Island Collaborative (NRIC) is a non-profit educational service center committed to providing special education programs and educational services to partner school districts and community partners throughout northern Rhode Island. Foundations Academy (formerly the Regional Alternative Program): Provides special needs students - diagnosed with behavioral and emotional disorders - with an alternative to traditional schools. Foundations Academy (formerly the Specialized Alternative Program): Students who learn differently and have different abilities need the help and guidance of educators who are specially trained to develop and maximize those abilities. Educators in the Foundations Academy work to identify a student’s skills and their potential for learning new skills. Educators, parents and students then develop a progressive plan tailored to an individual’s educational needs and social well-being.

Home Care We all need a little help sometimes. Home care services help people age strong in the community, connecting them with in-home supports, adult day health programming, and/or assisted living services. For older adults with care needs, the @Home Cost-Share program is available to help with some care expenses. Eligible participants can access in-home services – such as help with housekeeping, meal preparation or personal care – and/or community-based programming at adult day health centers at a reduced rate. You may be eligible for the program if you are age 65 or older, meet income guidelines, and need some assistance in the home with your personal or health care. Chad Brown is located adjacent to the Admiral Terrace development in the city’s Wanskuck neighborhood, and the two (along with a senior/disabled development on-site called Sunset Village) are collectively referred to as “Chad Brown”. Admiral Terrace was completed in 1951 and, along with Chad Brown, underwent a $16.5 million modernization project from 1986 to 1989. More recently, the on-site community center was renovated and an outdoor tot lot was installed. The community center has a gym, offices, meeting/activity rooms and a computer center. Admiral Terrace is comprised of 2 story brick row-house buildings with units ranging in size from two to four bedrooms.

Services provided include Adult Community Support Services, Wellness & Recovery Services and Medicaid Health Home. This includes basic needs assistance to low income households and connecting families to financial literacy and other programs to strengthen their financial condition. Basic assistance services include food assistance, utility assistance, clothing vouchers and housing referral and advocacy.

supervised apartment program is a 3 bedroom home located near Slater Park. This program houses males ages 17 and older and bridges the gap between adolescence and adulthood. As members of the community, the residents are afforded the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational, recreational and cultural programs. All residents attend school locally with staff providing supplementary and remedial academic assistance.

Blackstone Valley Assisted Living Specializes in intermediate care which is for those who don't need full-time care, but need a helping hand every now and then. Offers daily meal service, support sessions and independent living options to ensure all residents needs will be met.

Skilled and intermediate nursing and rehabilitative care; casework; physical, occupational, recreational, respiratory, speech and pet therapy; religious services, comprehensive activities program. The Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence’s (ISPN) mission is to teach, by word and example, the principles and practices of nonviolence, and to foster a community that addresses potentially violent situations with nonviolent solutions. To work to build Dr. King’s ideal of the nonviolent Beloved Community. ISPN’s 2017-2019 AmeriCorps program focuses 20 Americorps members in school based nonviolence programs which work with students to develop attitudes, skills, and behaviors to further a movement to achieve lasting reductions in violence that occurs in our communities. ISPN AmeriCorps members are implementing nonviolence education curriculum for at least 1,000 economically disadvantaged students in ten schools over the course of the year. Teams of two AmeriCorps members provide nonviolence education for five classrooms of 20 students, for a total of 100 students trained in each participating school. The members teach one or two classes of students each day for four days a week. When not teaching, members work to mediate conflicts between students who are having problems with each other. They help students who have been assigned to in-school suspension to develop strategies to navigate problems at school in more effective ways.

Hands On Disaster Response (HODR) is a US-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, that provides hands-on assistance to survivors of natural disasters around the world. Supports volunteers with housing, meals, tools, and organized work at no charge in order to provide free and effective response services to communities in need. Programs are directed by the needs of each community in which they work, ensuring a timely, relevant, and culturally sensitive response.

Programs that publish and/or distribute information regarding the position of rival candidates in an election, voter guides that may summarize the pros and cons of specific ballot measures, sample ballots, precinct boundaries, the location and hours of polling places, and other details regarding the content or the mechanics of the election.

Residential Program - provides a variety of residential accommodations for adults with developmental disabilities and special needs. To respond to the needs of adults with developmental disabilities, autism, emotional disorders and other challenging behaviors to help them reach their greatest level of independence, productivity and integration. Because issues associated with serious disabilities can be physical as well as emotional, SNERC sponsors support groups for patients who have had a brain injury, stroke or spinal cord injury as well as host a family education and orientation group. Stroke Support Group The Fatima All S.T.A.R.S. (Stroke, Together, Advocacy, Recovery, Support) invite you to join "HOPE after STROKE" meetings which take place in the rear of the 4 South dining room at Fatima Hospital. Spinal Cord Support Group Meetings take place in the outpatient therapy gym at Southern New England Rehabilitation Center’s Providence location at St. Joseph Health Center, 21 Peace Street. The gym is located on the third floor on the west wing.
