Founded in 1971, CODAC Behavioral Healthcare is Rhode Island’s oldest and largest non-profit, outpatient provider of treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). With seven community-based locations, as well as programming at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RI DOC), CODAC is well-positioned to deliver services wherever they are needed across the state. CODAC offers psychiatric and mental health services at all of their locations. After an initial intake screening you may be referred to an on-site psychiatric practitioner for further evaluation and treatment. Individualized treatment and recovery plans might include medication management supervised by the psychiatric practitioner and ongoing co-occurring counseling with clinical staff. It is not unusual to have both mental health disorders and a substance use disorder. Because the two conditions are so closely linked, CODAC has responded to offer you effective treatment and recovery programs to address both disorders concurrently.

Depending on the terms of the contract, the ambulance company may be the municipality's primary first responder, may serve in a backup capacity when the city's service is busy or may handle the transport component of the service while the city's paramedic/EMT service functions as the first responder. Ambulance companies may also provide emergency transport for people who want to go somewhere other than where the municipality's emergency medical service is authorized to take them.

Residents are provided with all basic needs and are encouraged to participate in a program that includes education about domestic violence, parenting and financial literacy. These parts are called Part A known as hospital insurance, Part B which is the Medical insurance, Part C known as Medicare Advantage, and Part D a stand-alone prescription drug coverage. Medicare members have the option of choosing a non-Medicare plan which is known as a Supplemental Insurance, often called Medigap. Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative (RIFLI), based out of Providence Public Library, is a free, nationally recognized ESL, citizenship preparation, workforce development and family literacy program for adults at public libraries throughout Rhode Island.
