Private, non-profit 501(c)3 non-denominational, Christian organization. Provides overnight shelter, dental services, food pantry, clothing room, and meal programs. **Overnight Shelter Provides emergency, overnight shelter for 75 to 90 homeless men and 15 to 30 homeless women, seven nights a week. Each overnight guest has the ability to take a hot shower, eat a hot dinner, sleep in a clean bed, and have breakfast in the morning. **Food & Clothing We operate an emergency food pantry and a clothing room. Individuals and families use these services on a daily basis. We distribute approximately 16,000 lbs. of food and 5,000 articles of clothing each month. **Meal Programs Our meal programs provide approximately 6,000 hot meals a month to the needy in our community as well as 1,700 box lunches to the children. In addition to our feeding ministry, we do special events during the holidays. This past Thanksgiving we provided Thanksgiving food boxes for 1,600 families in the Providence area. Each box contained 20 pounds of non-perishable food and a 20 pound turkey. At Christmastime, we provided 9,300 gifts to over 3,100 needy families through our Christmas Toy Ministry. **Dental Offices In a phrase - state-of-the-art. The Providence Rescue Mission features a full service dental office that helps Individuals start a new life with a smile they can proud of. Our office features x-ray, full cleaning, and other dental services. Local dentists and staff see patients by appointment only. **Discipleship Program We run a one-year discipleship program that allows 10 to 15 homeless men with, but not limited to, substance abuse issues to start a new life by combining biblical values, counseling, education and career training and reunification with their families. This program is at capacity most of the time. Since 1989, East Bay Coalition for the Homeless (EBCH) has been helping Rhode Island families get back on their feet by providing access to safe, affordable housing combined with case management, financial counseling and connection to mainstream resources. A seamless array of services may be accessed through our in-house or referral network. Services are individualized and designed to help families achieve and maintain financial stability. Families go to them during times of crisis and debt. Whether they need safe, affordable housing or assistance addressing the hazards of lead poisoning, our staff is here to help. EBCH serves households that meet the federal definition of homelessness. Lead education and services are also available to renters and property owners.

To volunteer as a mentor you must be: At least 19 years old, Open minded and non-judgmental, Open to diversity, Willing to commit to a minimum of one year to the program (or three semesters if college student), Able to spend three or four hours each week or every other week with a child, Able to establish and maintain a one-to-one relationship with a child, Able to access an insured car or willing to take public transportation. Programs Include: Traditional Program - The Traditional Mentoring Program matches at-risk girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 15, in long-term, one-to-one relationships with adult female and male volunteer mentors. �Big Mentor League� Program - This is a special program provided by Big Sisters of Rhode Island, in partnership with the Urban League of Rhode Island and Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership working with girls & boys who have a parent currently incarcerated. The girls/boys range in age from 4 to 18 years old and are from all over Rhode Island. Hermana(o) a Hermana(o) - BBBSOS matches Latina girls/Latino boys with mentors. The girls/boys are considered to be at-risk for academic failure or delinquency or lacking a strong role model. School-Based Mentoring - This program provides mentorship to both girls and boys after class at their school. This program provides a structured environment to assist in academic success. Donation Center - The BSRI Donation Center provides a sustained source of revenue for the vital social service activities of the agency by collecting donations of gently used clothing, household items, small appliances, books and toys (also accepts TV's, computers, and other large electronics for a $10 processing fee) through a combination of scheduled home pick-ups, on-site clothing drop-offs, and targeted community clothing drives.
