HGI’s for-profit arm, Broken Pieces International, engages adults, at-risk youth and other under-served populations in the design and manufacture of clothing and accessories that reflect the character and community of both HGI and the West African diaspora. This provides them with vital job training and economic opportunities, and the revenue generated supports HGI’s work in Liberia. This innovative model fosters important connections to the culture and history of the mother country for Liberians living abroad, and reinforces HGI’s mission to uplift communities through empowerment and self-sustainability.

Please check back regularly as we will be updating offerings often. The Jamestown Senior Center is located at 6 West Street. We offer weekday full service luncheons for a suggested donation of $3.00. Hot meals are available for in-house dining with a separate cold sandwich option for Grab & Go to be picked up at the Senior Center between 11:30am and 12:30pm. Hot meals are for those dining in. Dining in is from 11:15am-12:15pm. Menu is available in the "Lunch Menu" folder to the left. Reservations should be made 48 hours in advance.

If a child does not have a medical home, we can help the family find one.

Senior Inpatient Treatment Unit: Inpatient services for adults age 65 years and older, the geriatric unit is led by a specialized treatment team well versed in conditions such as Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders as well as depression, anxiety and other mood or psychotic disorders that may cause behavioral difficulties. The clinical team works to stabilize the patient for return home or to an assisted living campus with a comprehensive transition of care process.
Memory and Aging Program: An internationally renowned research program dedicated to developing breakthroughs in prevention and treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, while this is not a clinical care program, it offers hope to those at risk or exhibiting memory loss symptoms. With multiple research trials underway, including registry for future studies, participants are people with normal memory who may be at jeopardy for dementia and those who are already experiencing signs of cognitive decline.

The Office serves as the definitive resource for information on and the interpretation of Council policy for public higher education and the postsecondary institutions in Rhode Island that are under the authority of the Council on Postsecondary Education (Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island). The Office looks for shared opportunities to advance the objectives of postsecondary education with the public and independent institutions.
The Commissioner of Postsecondary Education is the state’s higher education executive officer. In fulfilling this role, the Commissioner for Postsecondary Education works closely with the presidents of the state higher education institutions to determine the benefits or disadvantages of proposed new programs, departments, division, courses of study within the scope and role adopted by the Council on Postsecondary Education and in developing tables of organization. The presidents also prepare and submit budgets to the Council on Postsecondary Education and the Board of Education for approval, and are responsible for the general management of property.
To accomplish these and additional responsibilities called for in Article 20, the Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner relies on the collegial relations and civil discussions among the members of the postsecondary community and with important stakeholders from business, government, and PK-12 education.
