Blackstone Valley Community health Care (BVCHC) has established a program that reduces fees charged to patients based on their income and family size. The categories used are based on percentages of “Poverty Level” as annually determined by the federal government. Qualifying patients will pay a nominal fee if they qualify for 100% of poverty. Patients between 101% and 200% will pay an amount depending on their family size and percentage of poverty. Every program has requirements and BVCHC’s Sliding Fee Program is no different.

Some of these organizations may supply a very specialized type of I&R service (e.g., for people with disabilities or older adults), while others may provide a comprehensive range of assistance. Services: Thirteen senior meal sites in northern Rhode Island serve a weekday lunch geared to the nutrition requirements of people over 60 (reservations required). Weekday day care for frail seniors and disabled; information and referral including assistance with health insurance, fuel assistance, tax abatements and enrollment in benefit programs. Activities, classes and special events for older adults.

Services: Houses 29 families and 8 women daily. Shelter stays are limited to 90 days but can be renewed based on progress demonstrated by participants or impending permanent housing. Case managers assist participants with healthcare, employment and establishing permanent housing. Help also available for: mental health issues, addiction, developmental delays in children, parenting and domestic violence. Case managers access services directly through Family Resources Community Action Program or collaborative agreements with other local non profit organizations.

Staff of Registered Nurses, Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists and Social Services is equipped to get clients back on their feet. CVN nursing and rehabilitation staff works with your physician to implement a care plan unique to your needs.

FOOD/HOT MEALS In their fight against hunger and food insecurity, they provide thousands of meals annually through a great team of volunteers in four primary communities: Woonsocket, Pawtucket, Providence, and West Warwick. They serve healthy fresh meals to those in need. They go beyond handing out care packages by serving hot meals to the homeless. At their weekly food services, their volunteers provide a valuable human interaction and guidance to available programs to those in need. In addition, we may deliver food to those who cannot reach their food distribution locations.
