The Mental Health Association of Rhode Island is an advocacy and education organization with the mission to promote mental health, prevent mental illness, and improve mental health services through advocacy, education, and research. MHA of RI conducts statewide public education campaign including free and confidential screenings on depression, anxiety disorders and eating disorders. Informational material, brochures and pamphlets on mental health and mental illness are available at no charge. Advocates for accessible, affordable mental health care. Also improve mental health services, increase access to care, and reduce discrimination, research- MHARI leads and collaborates in research initiatives to advance an understanding of the quality of the state's mental health system and gaps within the system that fall short of meeting the needs of the community. Services: A culinary training program for low-income, unemployed and welfare-to-work adults based on a national model that provides a full time 14-week/400 hour program. Throughout the training program, students use donated meat, packaged and canned goods, prepared and perishable food and fresh produce from our Community Harvest program to create nutritious meals for community meal sites and Kids Cafe, a community meal program exclusively for children at risk of hunger. This program offers training, workshops, hands on experience, certifications and employment opportunities. Community Kitchen provides a full chef�s uniform. FIP recipients receive transportation reimbursement and free child care during the program

Services Available: 3 meals and 2 snacks daily, case workers are available to shelter guests; crisis intervention; domestic violence support and education; housing placement; vocation/education/employment support, budget planning; Child advocacy. Medications kept in a secure location available to guests 24 hours a day. Smoking allowed in designated outdoor areas; Drug/Alcohol free environment. Children must be supervised at all time

Services: The department is comprised of six divisions designed to inform, entertain and enrich the lives of those who participate : ** Adult Day Services--Professionally designed programs to meet the needs of frail individuals with physical and/or cognitive impairments. Professional staff consists of registered nurses, a case manager, physical therapy assistant and certified nursing assistants. Therapeutic programs include music, art, physical, occupational, speech, aroma, pet therapy. Recreational activities include crafts, painting, exercise, gardening, Tai Chi and Yoga for elders. Intergenerational programs with local schools provide enrichment opportunities for both young and old alike. Support and Referral Services for each participant and their families, coordination with physicians and other service providers. Cost is based on a sliding fee scale. Licensed by the RI Department of Elderly Affairs. **Nutrition--Provides hot, nutritious, homemade lunches served at 11:45am, Monday through Friday. Snack bar with freshly baked goods, soups and much more. Night Life--Dinners, Thursday at 5pm in the Spring and Fall. **Programs--Offers activities that enable seniors to expand their horizons, enrich their lives and pursue a variety of interests. Our programs promote wellness, health maintenance, personal dignity and self worth. Individual needs, interests, skills and abilities are addressed through a variety of stimulating educational, social and health activities to improve the quality of life. **Retired Senior Volunteer Program--Allows anyone 55+ years of age the opportunity to help make the community a better place to live by sharing themselves with others. Participants gain personal satisfaction by serving at a public or non-profit agency. They also have fun by participating in interesting and rewarding experiences. Seniors serve from one to 40 hours a week; RSVP provides guidance and support, transportation, meals and insurance for all volunteers. Social Services--A caring staff of professional case managers and a Community Elder Information Specialist is available to provide support and counseling to seniors and their families, provide access to a network of service providers throughout the city and state, assist with the many available services, offer comfort and compassion, visit homebound seniors to assess and case manage, coordinate Support Groups such as Widow/Widower; Arthritis; Reminiscence. Our staff is available to speak to your community organization on a wide variety of issues. ** Transvan, (401) 943-3341--You don't have to be dependent on your family. Transvan, our daily transportation system for 60+ and/or disabled Cranston residents is available to provide transportation anywhere in Cranston, Monday through Friday. Provides shuttles to nearby malls and local markets. Provides transportation to doctors, nursing homes and hospitals in Providence, North Providence, Johnston and Warwick by appointment.

Eleanor Slater Hospital is a two-campus hospital. The hospital provides long -term acute and post -acute hospital level of care to patients with complex medical and psychiatric needs. ESH emphasizes collaboration among its leadership, physicians, nurses, and rehabilitative staff reviewing all processes associated with operations and quality care. Processes are continually modified or redesigned resulting in higher quality care for our patient population and improved operations.

Westbay’s Supportive Housing Program operates 6 subsidized rental units in Warwick and West Warwick. A case manager links tenants to services at Westbay and at other agencies. The case manager meets with them regularly to help with basic skills and support. The goal of the program is to help tenants achieve independence.

Villa Victoria is a LIHTC project completed in 2007. The property has 40 units in scattered sites. Four of the seven buildings are are new construction, the other three are ornate, historically significant Victorian homes. Founded in 1999, the Rhode Island Free Clinic’s mission is to provide free, comprehensive medical care and preventive health services to adults who have no health insurance and cannot afford those services; and to serve as an educational training site for aspiring health care professionals. The Clinic mobilizes vital health resources for Rhode Island’s uninsured, working poor and low-income adults. The Clinic also provides the most efficient and cost effective alternative to emergency rooms for uninsured residents seeking comprehensive health care.
