Crisis counseling aims to empower survivors by validating their experiences, helping them navigate the legal and medical systems, and connecting them with additional support services such as shelter, legal advocacy, and therapy. Through compassionate listening and validation, crisis counselors play a crucial role in helping survivors regain a sense of control, rebuild their lives, and ultimately break the cycle of abuse. The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center offers free crisis case management services that include: Assistance applying for the Rhode Island Crime Victim Compensation Fund Assessment of client’s needs and services Creating a safety plan for the client, providing crisis intervention, and any necessary outside referrals Assistance with obtaining temporary and permanent housing Advocating for clients to create sustainable goals for themselves and increase self-sufficiency Culturally competent and trauma informed services Assistance applying for Social Services, healthcare assistance and financial assistance, etc. Promote stability for the client and maintain a safe space for clients to process, understand, and overcome their interpersonal violence.

Organizations for men that provide an opportunity for members to meet and socialize through dances, parties, picnics, barbecues and other companionable activities. Some clubs may also offer lecture series which address topics of interest to the membership or provide opportunities for involvement in charitable fundraising and other similar activities.

OSDRI’s Real Pathways Employment and Training Program is focused on providing veterans the employment and training services they need in order to re-enter the labor force. Job placement, training, job development, career counseling, resume preparation, are among the services that are provided. Supportive services such as clothing, temporary financial assistance with housing, referral to medical and substance abuse treatment, childcare, legal assistance and transportation coordination are also provided to meet the needs of this target group. Employment and Training is focused on eliminating barriers by providing veterans and their families the employment and training services they need in order to re-enter the workforce. They work with Active Duty Military Personnel, National Guard, Reservists, Veterans and Military Families on a one-on-one basis to assist with Job placement, training, job development, career counseling, resume preparation, education. OSDRI works with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and their Disabled Veteran Outreach Program (DVOP) within the American Job Center (AJC) to provide crossover services and additional coverage for eligible clients in need of HVRP assistance. West Bay Collaborative assists students in the areas of Work-Preparation, Self-Discovery, Career Exploration, Job Development, Job Placement, Job Coaching, and Vocational Assessment and Evaluation. West Bay Collaborative Transition & Vocational Services is a group of unique educational and vocational programs serving youth ages 16+ in the Rhode Island community. The program supports youth, families, schools, and community agencies in the transition process via career exploration, vocational evaluation and employment services. Their mission is to provide quality, innovative, and individualized programs and resources to guide and support young people from school to successful adult living.
