Its role is to monitor long term care and address issues of abuse, neglect and financial exploitation. The staff is also involved in resident and family councils and represents residents in court.
Along with a Volunteer Ombudsman Program (VOP), the Alliance provides educational programs to the general public, health care providers and long term care consumers.
Building Bridges, an inter-generational Program, brings together school children and nursing home residents to foster sensitivity and understanding between generations.
The Alliance works with individuals receiving long term care services to improve their environment while maintaining respect, personal dignity, and human choice.
