In addition to popular and regularly scheduled reading and knitting groups, the Auburn Branch is popular for the ESL courses offered on-site by the Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative (RIFLI). This location also houses Cranston Public Library’s Books @ Home program.

A Batterers Intervention Program is a psycho-educational group led by trained professional facilitators. Each meeting is an hour and a half to two hours long, and meetings are held every week for a minimum of 20 weeks. Fees are collected, but programs can make accommodations as needed. Ask your parole officer or program staff about available options. Participants are held accountable for their attendance, must be on time, and cannot miss a meeting. Address issues of: victimization and perpetuation of abuse, substance use, mental health, domestic violence, anger management and trauma. Individuals are referred by the court and legal entities

Blackstone Valley Community health Care (BVCHC) has established a program that reduces fees charged to patients based on their income and family size. The categories used are based on percentages of “Poverty Level” as annually determined by the federal government. Qualifying patients will pay a nominal fee if they qualify for 100% of poverty. Patients between 101% and 200% will pay an amount depending on their family size and percentage of poverty. Every program has requirements and BVCHC’s Sliding Fee Program is no different.

They have a SHINE volunteer counselor to assist individuals and couples turning 65 or older with information on Medicare and appropriate health insurance programs for their needs and related health insurance matters. They have rotating local attorneys providing complimentary appointments one time per month, resource information for caregiving, and monthly appointments with the Town Nurse to check your blood pressure or assist with other questions. They also offer monthly appointments with providers in Reflexology, Reiki, Footcare and Manicures and Pedicures for a modest cost.

Walk-in resource center, accepts drop-in visits from any formerly incarcerated person. We maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive file of resources in major life areas such as housing, employment, education, medical, mental health, substance abuse, and transportation. Clients can use our telephone or computer lab to communicate with employers, family members, and probation or parole officers. Our resource center has a full schedule of programming, ranging from job readiness to financial literacy to support groups. We can also serve as a temporary address. Family Practitioner

St. Joseph Health Center provides comprehensive care to children, adults and families through a network of primary care and specialty clinics. With nearly 100,000 visits each year, the Health Center’s central location is at 21 Peace Street in Providence and at satellite locations in Pawtucket and Johnston, Rhode Island. The Center has convenient hours of operation, accepts all forms of insurance, and offers a sliding fee based on income to individuals who qualify. Our multicultural staff speaks a variety of languages including, but not limited to, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Interpreter services are available for patients who speak other languages.

Adult Basic Education is offered in English and is designed for students who need to improve their basic academic skills in order to enter into the National External Diploma Program, prepare for the GED, or enroll in an occupational skills training program. This can be a helpful transitional class for those adults who have been out of school for a long time or for advanced ESOL learners. The focus of the class is to improve: Math, reading, writing, social studies, science, digital literacy, and critical thinking.

East Greenwich Emergency Management implements policies related to hazard mitigation and emergency management programs and activities. The EMA also has general supervision of all civil preparedness duties and performs any other duties as assigned by the Town Manager.
