Blackstone Valley Arc group homes provide 24-hour supports in a home setting of three to five individuals. Staff assists with adult daily living skills, household chores, budgeting money, medical appointments and social and recreational activities. Group living arrangements offer the best opportunity to receive maximum support and resources. Agency supports many individuals in their own apartments, either on their own or with a roommate. A wide variety of services are provided including training on budgeting, paying bills, shopping, medical appointments, cooking, home maintenance and transportation issues as well as other needs as necessary.

The Rhode Island Center for Justice is a non-profit public interest law center that partners with community groups to strengthen existing advocacy and service provision with legal representation and strategy. At the core of our model is a partnership with Roger Williams University School of Law, which includes a post-graduate fellowship program, collaboration with pro bono and experiential education, and a joint commitment to building the next generation of public interest attorneys in Rhode Island. The Center brings together new lawyers, supervising legal staff, community groups, mentoring attorneys, and law students to make legal protection a reality where need is greatest.

Services: To promote and foster increased literacy in southwestern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut through free, student-centered, volunteer teaching of basic literacy, English as a second language, and other literacy programs, primarily to adults.

Access to vocational, social and communications skill programs allow clients to reach their greatest level of independence, productivity, empowerment and community access. Stepping Out � a non-profit organization formed to provide social, educational, and cultural activities for young adults with special needs. Residential Program � provides a variety of residential accommodations for adults with developmental disabilities and special needs. To respond to the needs of adults with developmental disabilities, autism, emotional disorders and other challenging behaviors to help them reach their greatest level of independence, productivity and integration. CharterCARE visiting nurse service is unique in that the clinical staff practices primary nursing. They will systematically assess, plan, deliver, and continually evaluate an individualized plan of care for each patient. Skilled Care: Clinical staff provides skilled training in the use, care and management of various medical devices including; G-tubes, J-tubes and foley catheters. We provide training in and assistance with injection therapy, oxygen therapy, ostomy care, tracheostomy care, the administration of insulin for diabetics, medication management, disease management and wound care. Advance Wound Care Every one of our nurses has been trained and is proficient in performing negative pressure wound therapy, a state of the art technology proven to significantly reduce healing time for chronic wounds. (ie: Wound Vac, Renosys and Engenex). Telemonitoring Our telemonitoring program is an adjunct to nursing visits and physician care. Upon the physician order, equipment is installed in the home for the patient. The equipment allows the patient to take daily measurements of weight, blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation. Results are monitored daily by an RN. Nutritional Services CharterCARE Home Health utilizes registered dieticians (RDs), food and nutrition experts who have met American Dietetic Association (ADA) criteria to earn the RD credential. RDs are available to assess a patient's nutritional needs, develop and implement nutrition programs, and evaluate and report the results.

Elmwood Commons is a subsidized housing community. Most apartments have Section 8 contract rents – you must go to the office to fill out these applications in order to get on the wait lists. But we have a few apartments that are Low Income Housing Tax Credit Apartments with no rental subsidy. These units (1 & 2 br) are on West Ave in Pawtucket and (2br & 3br) are on Gilmore & Bridgham Streets in Providence. There are no other locations.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps eligible low-income households pay their heating bills through federal grants to the household. There are two components to this program. Heating Assistance: A grant to assist a household in meeting heating costs. The grant may be paid to either a heating fuel vendor or utility company, or in a few cases, directly to the applicant. Crisis Assistance: A grant to help resolve a home heating crisis caused by a heat shut-off because of failure to pay a regulated energy bill, the inability to pay for deliverable fuel, or the failure of a heating system that is not repairable. The BEC specialist is able to assist with the application process.
