Early Head Start is a federal program for eligible families, that are expecting a child, or with a child ages birth to three years old. The program provides services that promote cognitive, language and social-emotional development of the child. Children enrolled in the program will receive medical and dental screenings at no cost, and families are provided with assistance locating health care, and emergency services whenever needed.

Reach Out and Read Rhode Island national nonprofit organization since 1989 now reaching nearly 4.5 million low-income families each year, Reach Out and Read builds on the unique relationship between doctors and patients to spread the message that reading aloud is the most important thing parents can do to help their children love books and start school ready to learn. With more than 5,500 participating programs across the nation, 66 of those here in Rhode Island, Reach Out and Read teaches millions of families the importance of reading aloud.

Ready to Learn Providence improves the educational and health outcomes of young children in Rhode Island through professional development, community engagement, research and direct service. They partner with families, educators and policymakers to promote best practices in early childhood education and healthy development.

Pre-K Program Activity centers – including art corners, reading nooks, science tables, floor space for blocks, and a theater for dramatic play – fill the pre-kindergarten classrooms. From September to mid-June, children eagerly engage in these centers, developing early literacy, math and science skills while at play

The Cumberland Preschool provides an integrated setting for children with special needs as well as those typically developing. The children are working to overcome developmental delay, physical impairment, speech delays and autism. Typically developing children benefit from highly skilled teachers, an environment that fosters strong social skills as well as an educational curriculum aligned to the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards.

EBCAP’s Community Programs are designed to help people to reach their full potential. It is their goal to create the bridge to self-reliance. Their programs improve lives through education, skills training, and clinical care when needed. A program like Baby Steps is a great place for parents to learn how their child develops. Their Home Energy Assistance Program helps those who can’t afford to heat their homes. Through the Congregate Nutrition Program, seniors received a healthy warm meal through their local Senior Centers. Head Start Programs teach the importance of a child’s healthy development so they can grow and thrive! The AmeriCorps Foster Grandparent Program offers a way for individuals 55 and older to stay active by serving children and youth in communities while providing a unique service built on the natural bond between generations. Their AmeriCorps East Bay Retired and Senior Volunteer Program places individuals 55 and older volunteering in many programs and nonprofits in the East Bay area. Their Volunteer Income Tax Program (VITA) provides fee tax preparation for income eligible individuals. Education and Career Pathways helps with educational goals, job readiness skills and improved career options. Their food pantries offer twice monthly food distribution. Senior Services provides options and resources to help income eligible seniors remain in the community. Satellite location of EBCAP. Food Pantry Victims of Crime Act- Advocacy for Crime Victims Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Feeding and Nutrition Program provides food vouchers, allowing them to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, juice and iron fortified cereals and formula. The WIC coordinator provides nutrition education and counseling to all program participants on a monthly basis.

Our classrooms are bright and inviting and are designed to maximize creativity and learning. Healthy lunches and snacks are provided to children daily. In addition to providing educational and nutritional resources, children will have access to health and dental screenings at no cost, and families will be provided with health referrals and referrals for emergency services whenever needed. We recruit families 12 months per year.

State Funded preschool operating in the Johnston School District. Offers a Universal Preschool Classroom for typically developing children ages 3-5, an Integrated Preschool Classroom for children with and without developmental disabilities, and a smaller, more intensive classroom for children who have been identifies to have greater needs. Child Outreach is a free service offered to all children 3 to 5 years old. Child Outreach provides information about your child’s development and resources that are available within your community. It can also help identify children who may need further assessment, intervention and/ or services at an early age to promote positive outcomes in kindergarten and beyond.

Provides preschool to childrenages 3-5 in a small classroom setting with a uniquely caring environment. Art, music, creative movement, Chinese and wildlife specialist enhance the core curriculum.
