Affordable Care Act Insurance Information/Counseling | Amos House

Provides hospitality and direct services to the homeless and poor of Rhode Island. Offers Transitional Housing Program for men and women who are homeless and looking to achieve sobriety. Permanent supportive housing includes five rooming houses (35 rooms) and 22 apartments. First priority is given to graduates of the 90-Day Transitional Housing Program. Residents live in a clean and sober community and continue to benefit from Amos House programs and services. Registered Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site: Staff of tax preparers are IRS trained, tested, and certified to help people who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit program receive the tax credits they deserve. THIS IS A FREE SERVICE. You must bring a copy of your previous year's return, all financial statements pertaining to tax year, your social security card, and a picture ID. Employment Training Programs including: culinary arts, carpentry and literacy training programs. Additional Services: Emergency assistance, including help with rent and utilities Transportation assistance (bus passes and RIPTIX) Substance abuse counseling, program and referrals HIV education and referrals Mental health referrals Health care on site, once a week Assistance with dental care Prescription, eye exams and eyeglass assistance Legal aid referrals Help with applications for SSI Help with applications for food stamps, FIP and other benefits Personal hygiene items Housing placement and assistance with housing-related problems

Tri-County Community Action Agency offers the following programs: Early Childhood Education; Employment & Training; Family Care Community Partnership; Food Assistance; Fuel Assistance & Weatherization; Health Center; Health Equity Zone; Housing and Tax Assistance; Regional Prevention Coalition; Senior and Disabled Adults services; Victim of Crime Advocacy; and WIC. For seniors, services include: At Home Supports Case Management; Integrated Case Management; Self-Directed Program; Protective Services; and National Family Caregiver Support Program. Behavioral health treatment is offered for a wide variety of concerns including substance abuse treatment, anxiety and depression, relationship and family counseling, and stress and anger management. Dental and Oral Health services include: oral examinations, digital x-rays, dental cleanings, topical fluoride, nutritional counseling, sealants, oral hygiene instruction, restorative services (fillings), simple extractions, anterior root canal, denture repair and crown re-cementation Head Start educators work with families and children to implement developmental and socialization strategies that work best for you and your child. Their classrooms are bright and inviting and are designed to maximize creativity and learning. Healthy lunches and snacks are provided to children daily. In addition to providing educational and nutritional resources, children will have access to health and dental screenings at no cost, and families will be provided with health referrals and referrals for emergency services whenever needed. Early Head Start is a federal program for eligible families, that are expecting a child, or with a child ages birth to three years old. The program provides services that promote cognitive, language and social-emotional development of the child. Children enrolled in the program will receive medical and dental screenings at no cost, and families are provided with assistance locating health care, and emergency services whenever needed. Eligibility Guidelines: The programs service families with income at or below the federal poverty guidelines, children in living in foster care, and families experiencing homelessness.Ten percent of enrollment slots must be filled with children with a diagnosed disability.
