The Ocean Tides School Providence Campus is an alternative day school for students in grades seven through twelve. Offering a full high school Rhode Island Regents diploma, the school is licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The student body at the Providence Campus is comprised of students referred by their school district for educational purposes (both regular and special education) and career/technical training. This 10 session group is designed to empower youth to protect themselves from the commercial sex industry and its perpetrators; explore what makes a healthy relationship; improve self-esteem; and provide positive interaction with peers, medical professionals, law enforcement officers, and survivors. This group beneficial for all teenage girls, as all teenage girls are at risk for exploitation. Clients do not need to have a sexual abuse history to benefit from this group. A Batterers Intervention Program is a psycho-educational group led by trained professional facilitators. Each meeting is an hour and a half to two hours long, and meetings are held every week for a minimum of 20 weeks. Fees are collected, but programs can make accommodations as needed. Ask your parole officer or program staff about available options. Participants are held accountable for their attendance, must be on time, and cannot miss a meeting.
