Westbay’s Lead Center provides a Case Manager who will walk families through the application process. This program provides forgivable loans to mitigate the hazards of lead-based paint and to make your home a healthier and safer place to live. The LeadSafe Homes Program is available to homeowners and landlords at no cost to qualifying customers. The Lead Center provides community outreach and education about lead-related issues. Westbay’s case managers can make home visits to assess for lead hazards and/or provide education to families with children under six years of age with no referral. Assessment The Lead Center offers free in-home lead assessments to any property owner, landlord, or tenant worried about lead paint hazards. Assessments are especially important for households with young children and for those who are planning to renovate. Case Management The Lead Center provides non-medical case management for families of children with lead poisoning. Case managers help families coordinate medical care, developmental screenings, and nutritional counseling. They can also offer assistance with housing inspections or relocation.

The Ronald McDonald House of Providence is a temporary home for families with hospitalized children that is located next to Women & Infants’, Hasbro Children’s and Rhode Island Hospitals. In addition to its proximity to medical facilities, the House offers something even more important; the support that comes from being able to talk and share concerns with other parents going through similarly difficult situations. Built on land donated by Rhode Island Hospital, the Providence House has 28 bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, dining area, a family room with play area, fitness room and laundry facilities. An enclosed courtyard offers secure access to the outdoors. Support and advocacy for the blind. Monthly meetings focus mainly on advocacy activities such as legislative and public policy development and public education. However, peer support for individuals is available and provided as needed. Purpose of the group is to foster positive attitudes towards blindness for both the blind and sighted communities. Chapters The Greater Providence Chapter of the NFB of RI meets on the second Saturday of each month, except for the months of July and October from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and they are preceded by a social half hour at 10 Office Parkway, in East Providence. The Mount Hope Chapter of the NFB of RI meets on the third Thursday of each month, except for October and December from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, preceded by a social half hour.
